Chapter 8

Anne drew’s POV

“God. What were you thinking Justin?!” I yelled at him as I got a basin of water and some towels. “I thought you were practicing for graduation?!”

“I’m sorry, Anne. We were practicing for graduation.” He explained.

“Then why’d you ended up drunk in a bar!” I angrily wiped his face with the wet towel. And he seriously stunk of alcohol. Blech.

“After practice, there was a celebration at the bar. So I went.” he said eyes, still closed.

“Urgh.” I complained. I don’t like him getting drunk. It’s dangerous. What if he gets into an accident on the way home? I can’t risk losing someone again. I stood up to return the basin to the kitchen but he pulled my hand and made me sit back. “What?!” I asked.

“Sorry. Don’t leave me.” After saying those words, his expression changed, from begging to regret. He knows how much I hated those words. “Sorry.” He apologized again.

“I’ll be back. Want some hot choco?” I forced a smile. He nodded and closed his eyes. I sighed and finally went to the kitchen to get him some. ‘Don’t leave me. Don’t leave me. Don’t leave me.’ Argh. Curse him for saying that. I remember him saying that on our parents’ burial. It still pained me, the image of their burial. Sometimes I just wished I could flush away the memory. It haunts me when I sleep. Sometimes it just suddenly pops up in my head. And I hate it. I shook my head and focused on bringing the cup of chocolate to Justin, when suddenly… “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!” I saw a flash of light. I heard screeching of wheels and screams all over the place so I ducked and covered my ears then everything went black.

Justin’s POV

I heard an earsplitting scream so I got off the couch and stood up to see what was happening. I saw her crouching on the ground with her hands over her head and the shattered cup in front of her. No. it’s not happening again! I rushed to her side and carried her to the sofa. “Anne drew, honey, are you alright?” I asked her but she wasn’t moving. “Shit! Anne! Wake the fuck up!” I shook her angrily. No! No! No! God! What was I supposed to do when this happens? Think Justin! With the alcohol fogging my mind it’s really hard to think straight. Why does this have to happen when I’m drunk? I panicky looked around for her purse to see if she had taken her pills. I dug in her bag and saw her still not drunken medicine. “How can you be so careless Anne? Mom and dad would kill me if they knew what’s happening to you.” I told her. Even if she’s not awake, I know she can hear me. I got up to get some water and forced her to drink the capsule. I pulled her into a sitting position and waited for the medicine work its way to her system.

Anne drew’s POV

I woke to Justin’s humming that sort of calmed me down a bit. I tried to sit up but I felt agonizing pain on the side of my head. “Aw.” I moaned. Justin quickly looked at me and asked what was wrong. I put a hand on my temple and gently massaged it. “I thought you were the drunk one? How come I had the headaches?” I joked. He rolled his eyes at me as if to say ‘yep, you’re alright’. “What happened though?”

Justin’s forehead creased as he looked at me. “You forgot to drink your meds.” For the stupid illusions, I noted in my head and nodded. “You want something to eat, honey?”

Instead of answering him with an accurate answer, I gave a different question. “What time is it already?”

He glanced at his wrist watch and said “Almost time for school I guess.” I looked at the window and saw the break of dawn. How long was I out? I found myself asking. “Time to sleep.” He announced.
