The sun rose in a pool of crimson and gold, spilling light all over the land and the white clouds. The wind rustled through my hair like my mother used to. Suddenly I heard the shoot of an arrow, I rushed to my feet still half asleep. Carefully I put my boots back on and shuffle out of the shelter, I glanced around our camp and I saw nothing. I couldn't see Taylor either! My heart started beating faster and faster like it was telling me to run, I resisted the urge to call his name. Staying strong I stomped out of the camp into the woods, I heard laughing. The "unknown" came to my mind, I froze with terror. Twigs snapping and boots moving I looked at the ground. "Oh good morning kayleigh!" Taylor cheered, I was astonished it was him. But he is better than the "unknown." Anger started to build up inside of me, Why didn't he wake me up and tell me he was going? Why did he go? What was he doing? These questions circled my mind. But all they were was questions that haven't been answered, we have bigger problems. "I was out shooting down some deer." He adds, I smile then walk back to the camp making sure to miss all the mud on our way. I wasn't in the mood to talk to Taylor after how he'd scared me. But if we don't get along we are going to die. Simple as, I remembered how I wanted to feel my mother. I wanted to see her, I wanted her protection! Now... I'm just a girl from the movies. "We need better clothes." I order "get me stuff from the hut at the lake." Taylor nods and goes, whilst I make the shelter better and do my hair with the water. I clean my face. The water feels so nice on my skin. I won't see my mother again so I won't think about her. I have a girl after me and I need to get ready. Eventually Taylor comes back with loads of stuff. Mostly leather but leather will work, I make him a top. These need to be quite tight because we've got hunting to do. I also make him trousers. Looking through the pile I manage to mend some old shoes and turn them into boots. He tried on his stuff and I was pleased they fitted him. He made dinner while I made my clothes. I made ours identical so we would know each other from other people. Our outfits were black with a little bit of a blue line running down the sides, I loved blue but I chose the colour because it resembles the lake. The lake is keeping us alive so I could give it some credit. I got my outfit on and we looked at each other amazed. "I want to die brave, or not die at all" I murmur. He agrees and we go hunting. I know tomorrow the girl will come, I can feel the threat posed inside of me. I know she will be here, I just know!
