The Face Behind My Computer

Chapter 36

"Good morning Sam!" I sing out into the hall when I saw my cousin hastily walk past my room. I did not get the chance to see him last night since he ditches me for his girlfriend. "Wait are you not going to school today?" I ask noticing he was still in his pajamas at this time. He shakes his head no. I frown stepping out into the hall. What is going on with him? As much as he appears to have that tough guy look he was never the one to not want to go to school or to make up some lame excuse as to why he didn't want to go to school. And to think of it whenever Sean and his boys skip school to come and visit me regardless that they live on the other side of town Sam was never with them.

I remember this one time--Oh gosh I don't know what I was thinking. Sean came to pick me up from school rather early maybe two hours perhaps four hours. Well anyways Sean told me that he had some package to deliver so our date would have to be on hold for a couple of hours. We both went to his house and I notice there were three unfamiliar cars all black with tended window's. I knew better by now not to stick my noise in his business but I care and worry about him so much that I did it anyways. But like always he shut me out and ignore my question completely. When we got into the house he told me to wait upstairs in his room while.

I was so upset because I did not skip school for him is ditch me deliver packages

"Roxanne what are you doing here?" If the floor could open up and swallow me whole for every time Sam give me that deadly look I don't think I will make it out of this house alive. He was the last person I was expecting to see here.

"What are y...you--" I stammer upon my words scare out of my pants.

"My school had an early release today. Last time I check you did not and for a matter of fact you should be in PE as we speak." He said glancing at his watch.

"Um. Yeah about that you see..." I trail off thinking of a lie to tell. Sam cross his arms over his chest and scold at me. "Okay! Sean and I was supposed to go on a date." I said slumping back onto the bed. "But as always he's off doing something else." I said groaning under my breath.

He raises both hands up in the air as though he was surrendering. His lips were slightly ajar almost as if he was going to say something but then he closes it and pinch the bridge of his nose. "You. Home. Now." He said walking out the room and there was no protest from me whatsoever. I quietly made my way out the room behind him.

Sam has always been my older brother with a tough love and hate type of relationship. "Are you okay?" I ask taking caution steps towards him. But before I could even reach him he ran into his room and slam the door shut. Why is he acting so strange? I raise my fist to knock on the door but we both know I was going to pounce on it instead.

I went back into my room and retrieve my bag then I head down stairs into the kitchen. Last night mom has made this amazing blue berry pie and I made sure to store extra in the refrigerator knowing very well Sam will eat it all up. I pull open the refrigerator and took out the bottom draw contain of fruits to reveal my secret hiding spot. I open the second set of draw and to in a matter of second my face drops. My smile soon turned into a killer grin.
