During lunch, Frankie was shunned away from our table. I walked around like I used to; I made a stop at basically every table. Konner wanted to walk with me, so I let him. First up was a girl on my team freshman year. Her name was Amber; she's a senior now.
"Hi Amber," I said.
"Oh my God!" she exclaimed. "Megan!"
"Where's your boyfriend?" I asked.
"We uh broke up two weeks ago," she mumbled. "I've missed you."
"I've missed you too," I said, hugging her. "I have to finish going around."
"Of course," Amber muttered, "I've missed hearing you say that."
I smiled and said," It's been forever since I've said it."
"Yes it has," Amber agreed. "I'm so happy that you're okay and back in school because it's been too quiet without you, child."
Cara Manning, another senior from my freshman year team, screamed, "MEGAN DENHAM!"
"Megan?" Andrew Galina gasped. "What are you talking about?"
"Right there," Trent Mongo said, pointing to me.
I basically ran to their table. They were my favorite senior boys' lunch table. There was some junior boys mixed in, but majority was seniors. Konner followed me, lagging behind as I made my way to Andrew. Andrew was the nicest of all them and he always gave me awesome hugs. Nate Ramon let me sit in his chair and stood up behind me talking to Konner.
"How do you feel?" Johnny Tonners asked. "I know I was always an obnoxious pervert to you, but I've really missed you!"
"Aw Johnny," I said, leaning across the table to let him hug me. "I missed your perverted little comments like 'how do you feel?'"
"No Megan. That was an honest question. How are you?" Johnny asked.
"I'm okay I guess," I answered.
"As much as I hate you, Megan, I've missed you too," Trent said. "It's been too quiet without you." Then he gave me a huge shocker. "I want a hug."
My jaw hit the floor. "And this is coming from Trent Mongo who tells me he hates me every day?" I asked. "Are you okay Trent?" I felt his head to check for a fever.
"Shut up," Trent said, "you're ruining the actually missing you part."
I stopped arguing and leaned across Andrew to hug Trent. Trent had a very good-looking brother. He graduated last year - to my dismay.
Nate Ramon gave me a hug from behind and said, "I'm glad that you're back, Megan. It's been way too quiet at our table the last month. I really missed you because I've missed 11:11 for the past month."
"You guys didn't wish for me?" I asked, shocked.
"I did," Andrew said.
"Andy Roo!" I exclaimed. "My best buddy!"
"MEGAN DENHAM: my favorite junior!" Andrew told me.
"I knew that already, Andrew," I said.
Andrew hugged me and actually pulled me out of my chair in the process. "I've missed you, best friend," he said. "Your idiot boyfriend wouldn't let me, Mike, Johnny, Trent and Nate in to see you. We tried to get in at least several times."
"Ex-boyfriend," I corrected Andrew. I made sure that my correction was completely deliberate and obvious. He was not my boyfriend. I couldn't stand him at all!
Cara made her way to my table. Hers was next to the table I was at, but she finally had gotten up. "Megan! Oh my God! How are you, girly?" Cara asked me. "I can't believe it all happened. This cafeteria has been so quiet without you. It has been so upsetting!"
I let out a giggle and hugged her. Today was busy because it was my first day back. The cafeteria days were usually busy for me because I had to go around and say hello to everybody I knew, but today was taking longer because I had to answer so many questions. Everybody was so concerned with my previous condition. I hate getting sympathy, but I love how everybody is considerate of what I went through. I am beyond upset that stupid Frankie wouldn't let any of my friends see me. He is so possessive. It's so damn annoying!
"I'm okay," I said, "I guess. I mean, only time will heal, right?"
"Yeah," Konner said, rubbing my back. "It'll take time, babe."
"Hit on her and I kick your rear end," Andrew defended me. Andrew always defends me. I love how he is protective, but he lets me speak and lets me voice what I think. He's a good listener and always seems to know what the right thing to do is. I love that about Andrew. He's like God in the form of a high school student. He's a complete doll, but he's a total player.
"He's my boyfriend, Andrew," I said. "Just calm yourself, stupid." I often joked with Andrew and I usually called him stupid.
"Ooh," Andrew gasped. "Were you at his party on Saturday?"
"Yes I was," I said. "It was my first night of freedom. I miss being able to go out - although I don't really remember not being able to go out because I was incoherent for so long. I was in a coma for a month."
"Aw, why didn't I see you?" he asked.
"I don't know. Konner and I were just chilling in the kitchen," I replied.
Konner sensed the lie I told, so he went along with it. "We must've talked for about three hours, right?" Konner asked me.
"Probably about that amount, Konner," I answered as I stood up. "I'll be back later. You guys are my favorite table, but I have to go say hello to stupid Nick Tulia and Darry Ronald. I don't like them that much, but I know for sure that they miss me."
"Meg!" Nick Tulia gasped.
"Hi," I shyly said. "Do I know you?"
"Yeah, it's me! I'm Nick Tulia. We went out for three days, but then you broke up with me because I was too immature. So when you stopped talking to me, you still talked to my buddy Darry. How are you?" Nick asked.
"Um, I'm okay," I said.
"Hi Meg," Darry said.
"I remember you," I told Darry. I remembered his chubby face easily. I had not forgotten Nick. I don't know who could forget such an obnoxious person like him.
"But you don't remember me? Nick asked.
"Nope," I replied. "I have no idea who you are." That was a lie. Of course I knew who Nick Tulia was! He was an obnoxious senior boy who had a sick crush on me since I started coming to the school. He has brown hair, grey eyes and glasses. He is quite fit because he plays football, but I don't like him.
"Of course you remember me," Darry said. "How could you forget me?"
"I didn't," I said.
"Who could forget somebody as amazing at life as I am?" Darry asked.
"Well," I said. "You aren't much, so I could forget you easily."
"Wow that was harsh, Meg," Darry said.
"Well no one keeps me around to be nice. You could just ask Sarah, Frankie or Nick," I said. "I'm not here to please anybody but myself. I can handle it all because I'm a strong fighter."
"You're here," Francesca Torino, my senior best friend, said.
"Yes I am!" I replied. I left Andrew's table a while ago and I was now in between Francesca and Nick Tulia."
Francesca was a tall brunette. She was about my height. I'm five foot six and I am super hungry, but I don't tell anyone.
"I'm so sick of this," Francesca muttered. "I hate school! The only good part about today is that you're back!"
"I hate school," I agreed. "The only good part is being around my friends. I really haven't been around later. I haven't been around because I've b been in a coma. DUH!"
