Bonus Chapter - Happy Birthday, Diamond!

Okay, so it's Dia's birthday today, and I decided to write a one shot for him. It's a bit long, but it in no way relates to the actual story. You know how there's heaps of fan art whenever there's a fictional character's birthday? Well I got jealous that I couldn't draw, so I decided to write instead. Enjoy and please comment on your feelings on this :)

“When you think of Pokémon~” said Pearl.

“When you think of Pokémon~” echoed Diamond.

“You think of the different times when Pokémon appear, right?” said Pearl thoughtfully.

“Is that so?” asked Diamond with interest.

“Yeah!” exclaimed Pearl with excitement. “So for example, a lot of ghost Pokémon come out at night, but not during the day, whilst other Pokémon will appear more often at certain times of the day. Therefore, if your thinking of capturing a specific Pokémon, make sure you know what times they’re usually out-and-about!”

“Ah, I see,” said Diamond, nodding with understanding. “I can totally relate to that.”

“Really?” asked Pearl. “How so?”

“Well, you see,” began Diamond with an air of importance. “Some restaurants are only open during the day, but not at night. Others will only be open during the night, but not the day.”

“Food again?” cried Pearl in outrage, delivering a well-rehearsed slap across Diamond’s cheek.

There was a moment’s silence. Diamond rubbed his cheek with a wince and Pearl rubbed his chin in contemplation. Then, in the silence, a giggle broke from the corner of the room. The two boys instantly whirled their heads in the direction of the giggle in astonishment.

“That was exceptionally well done,” laughed Platinum Berlitz lightly. “You two have surely improved since we first met.”

The two boys were still shocked in silence as Platinum continued to chuckle. Her glossy black hair framed her face as she lowered her head in her display of amusement, unable to hide her most glamorous features. When she lifted her face, her wide gold and silver eyes still shining with laughter, she offered a lasting smile to her two most trusted companions. At her feet, her childhood Pokémon, Rapidash lay with his head rested in her lap as she stroked his blazing head.

Both boys were instantly frozen with the sound of her laugh, and further dazed by the euphoric effect of her stunning smile. Pearl was the first to break from the spell.

“Wow, you really think so?” asked Pearl eagerly. When she nodded in confirmation, the two cheered and clapped their hands together.

“Now we only have to keep improving and we’ll make it to our dream!” exclaimed Pearl in excitement, causing Diamond to jump up into the air with another sound of celebration.

“Make it to our dream! Make it to our dream!” chanted Pearl’s Chatot, Chahiko delightfully. Diamond’s Munchlax, Lax, waddled around in a circle beneath him and the two did their own private party. When they finally settled, they quickly scuffled over to sit cross-legged next to Platinum’s chair, with Chahiko and Lax relaxing comfortably in their respective trainer’s laps.

“So another day goes by,” sighed Pearl.

“They just fly by don’t they?” responded Platinum empathetically. She turned to Diamond, “Would you please go down and grab us all something warm to drink. It would be good to have something before going to bed.”
