Today, we came home to Hissan sleeping on the table. We tried to wake him up, but it didn't work.

He later woke up after a few hours.

He yawned, stretching. He blinked lazily a few times, content.

"Hissan?" I called from the couch. He turned towards me with the same expression. Saiko burst out laughing. "Are.. you alright..?"

"'Course! Alrighty then, accidental success. Accidents are often the source of huge discoveries," Hide murmured, jotting down notes. He got up, got some ingredients, grabbed some quinque steel, and sat back down, starting to mix some things in a bowl. I watched, curious.

I'd never seen Hissan start an experiment.. None of us have-- he usually starts when we go to work or when we're asleep.

Hissan finished mixing the contents of the bowl and started making quinque knives. After he made a few knives, he coated them in the liquid that was in the bowl and put them in a box. He put the box in the freezer and sat back down. He started humming, jotting down some more notes. He then cleaned up and got out some more ingredients. He started making one of the pill-type concoctions.

Hissan often had three types of experiments- pills, some blocky thing, and liquids. We didn't know what they were for, but Saiko had peaked into his notebook once or twice. The notes for the liquids were just the ingredients, taste, and effects. The notes for the pills were the ingredients and effects, along with any problems like 'dissolves quickly' or 'looks nasty' or anything like that. Saiko hadn't seen the notes for the blocky things, but it could be assumed-- ingredients, minor problems (that category could include taste), and effects.

"Hmmn~" Hissan hummed to himself. I hadn't noticed, but he'd stopped experimenting to stare ahead at nothing. He sometimes did this, so we knew what to expect-- a question. "Oi, you guys, can you deliver something for me?"

But we'd never been asked a favor.

"..? Is that allowed, Pappan..?"

He shrugged. "I think I'm as successful as I'm gonna get for this one -- on my own. So I need to test it out properly. But since I'm stuck here, I can't really do that.."

"We're not testing it out? And haven't you already tested it?" I inquired, glancing at his newly-made pills. Had he taken one of them..?

"No and yes, but I need to test it on someone who actually has the problem it's supposed to cure.."

Me and Saiko exchanged glances.

Hissan never gave too much information about his experiments, and it was pretty obvious that he was trying to be as vague as possible.

"Then, sure," Saiko replied before I was finished thinking.

"Great." Hissan stood up and gave the pill to Saiko, "Keep it safe. Take it to the address ### XXXXXXXXX, okay? Make sure nothing happens to it, and make sure it goes to a girl with blue hair. Okay? If anyone else answers the door or stops you on the way, come back here immediately," Hissan explained.

"Okay," Saiko replied.

"I'll go, too," I got off the couch, and Hissan nodded.

"Be careful, you two. Try not to take black alleys."

"Yep," we both responded.

---

It'd been a split-second decision when I had agreed to go. Now though, I could think it all through.

"Nee, Saiko, why did Hissan tell us that information?"

"To convince us to take up the favor?" she guessed.
