"I'm obviously dead; I've been mauled to death by that guy and this is heaven" I mumble a bit too loudly as Jungkook helps me up. He gives me a concerned look and inspects me for wounds.
"I'm guessing that blood isn't yours," he states eyeing my ruined clothes cautiously, "come on, we got a van taking us away from the venue if you want to come with, but we've got to run now." Behind me I see a group a speed walkers closing in on us. Without another word, he takes my hand and starts sprinting down the hallway.
See with many other guys I would be swooning over my great savior and such and such while we run off into the metaphorical sunset, but Jungkook is hella fast and I am not. So, for the next minute, I am dragged at breakneck speed doing everything humanly possible to not fall. I yank my hand out of his which causes us to both stop. He turns toward me in frustration.
"What are you doing? We have to keep going!"
"You dragging me isn't helping! I can run faster if you aren't pulling me, you'll definitely be faster without having to jerk me along."
Under other circumstances, I'd be crying in the corner over yelling at the Golden Maknae, but I'm too focused on not dying to care.
"Fine but keep up so get to far behind me," and with that he turns and shoots off leaving me trailing behind him wheezing and almost regretting my decision, almost.
Occasionally we must pause so Jungkook can knock them out of our way, but other than that and horde of "people" we made it outside pretty easily. Once out the doors, I can see a van with a whole bunch of people yelling at us to hurry up. As more of them run behind us from outside, we barely dive into the van fast enough to give the others enough time to close the door. I turn around to see five bloody faces pressed up against the glass with smacking jaws below vacant eyes.
(imagine this but the 2 middle rows are long benches like the back row)
"We're good back here start driving," Someone calls from behind me. It's only then that I legitimately look around at who I'm with. Everyone introduced themselves. There are fifteen people inside the van including me, all seven members (trust me in my head I'm fangirling SO MUCH right now), five staff members and managers, a quiet girl named Julie Chandler, and her boyfriend, Alex Hemmings. The driver, Roe Chunyong, and the man in the passenger seat, Nam Tae-Won, are both managers. Sitting closest to the door was a member of BTS's security team, but I didn't catch his name, so I'll have to ask later. The two men sitting in the back with Alex and Julie are staff from the concert center named Eric Sanchez and Jared Dale. After the members, I am the last to introduce myself.
"Hey I'm Danielle," but the fact that I hadn't said my last name like everyone else didn't go unnoticed. Namjoon leaned toward me
"What's your last name?"
"Um, Thomas" I lied. I didn't want to go the awkwardness of everyone trying to pronounce my Indian last name, so I just used my dad's name like in school. It's just easier that way.
"So, little lady how old are you? And you too? You look barely fifteen darling," the man named Jared asks.
"I'm eighteen... um 2000 liner," Julie responds in a quiet tone.
"Nineteen. 99 liner," I mutter as Julie and I share a knowing look. What a creep, I can't help the shudder that runs through me. However, none of the males in the bus seem the least bit concerned about this line of questioning. With the introductions finished, everyone seems satisfied enough, and from there silence reigns over us all. My and Jungkook stay seated on the floor while everyone else crams four people on seats meant to seat three. After about ten minutes of driving, I use my phone to look up the news hoping to information. The answer isn't good.
There is chaos on the streets. People recently pronounced dead have been waking up and attacking those around them. The hospitals that aren't at carrying capacity have been shut down because of dangerous conditions. This isn't just in the city it's happening throughout the east coast and spreading across America. All flights into, out of, and within the U.S. are grounded.
"Guys, America has been quarantined; they aren't letting anyone leave the country"
"That's not possible; I'm calling the embassy. Tonight, was our last North American tour date. We even have a flight headed back to Korea in the morning." One of the managers in the front calls back. The rest of us listen in straining to make out the other end of the conversation, but I could only understand Nam Tae-Won's frustrated responses.
"What do you mean no exceptions? ....
"We aren't infected, and we aren't citizens! ....
"This is absolutely inhuman how can caging up one country solve anything!?!.... Please, can I just spe-
"Shit the call disconnected, I don't think we will get any help from the embassy.... At least not today-"
The discussion is halted by a burst of giggles from me quickly followed by some coughs.
"Sorry he said not today, and I'm in a car with oh never mind me I'm immature when I'm stressed" My faced burns.
"So anyways what I was saying was that we should find someplace to stay until all this calms down."
"What about the hotel if we the highway we should be able to get there with an hour and rest," Suga offers.
"No highways aren't a good idea," I point out, scrolling through my phone, "All the highways with accidents and the panic. We'd have a better chance sticking to more local roads."
"I don't these roads well enough to take us there without the highway." The poor driver sounds so dejected.
"It's okay. I don't think we should go to the hotel anyway," Rapmon notes, "In the current state of distress everyone is in, I doubt most public facilities like that are actually functional or even safe."
At this Erin or Ender or some "E" name that I can't remember speaks up, "I live about thirty minutes from the concert venue. My apartments small, but my neighbor is a doctor who is out on vacation in the Caribbean for the next month. Since I have his key for emergencies, we could use his apartment as well because I'm sure this counts as an emergency. Plus, his apartment is bigger than mine, so we won't be as squished." All of us sigh in relief at the convenient situation. This is perfect; it's like this is a book or something. Anyways we quickly agree that, but all groan when Evan or Enderson informs us that his apartment complex is in the opposite direction from the venue. As we take a U-turn and begin our dreaded journey back towards the arena, I noticed Julie whimpering from the back seat.
"Are you okay?"
I'm not answered by Julie but by Alex, "My girlfriend hurt her leg while we were running." I'm a little suspicious, but I let it go anyways. I lean my head against the door and try to sleep before we arrive. There is just something about being in a moving car that can always make me sleepy. Just as I start to doze off.
"STOP THE CAR!"
