her nose begins to sting
her cheeks volumize
her throat swells
her mouth quivers
she bites the inside of her lip
she runs out of the building because
once she lets go of this piece of skin
the force field around her eyes drops
the saltwater falls against her soft cheek
and it happens.
she releases all the pain built up
she collapses aside the wall of the building
the burden on her back grew wings and flew
until the man standing beside her shot the wings,
making the burden fall,
crashing back on her shoulders
she shields her face
sloppily rebuilds the walls and stops the tears
She stands up with a faint shake in her legs and fingers
He can see it
She knows he is staring
She deduces his home life, work life, and social life
Just with a quick glance over his body
She is also able to conclude that he is worried
She assumes that it is about his job,
he works in the building that she just scaredly ran out of,
But she is wrong
He is worried about her
He couldn't care less about the meeting
That he will be late to if he stays to help her
With her eyes and arms,
She tells him to hurry inside
To not worry about her
But he can't
He won't stop staring
