Althea had no idea why she had followed the strange boy that was River McCann. There was just something about him that drew her attention, he was a mystery waiting to be solved. They sat in silence as the car rolled quietly down the narrow path, the sun had set half an hour ago so they sat in the dark. Finally she broke the silence.
" Where are you taking me?"
" You'll find out when we get there."
" It sounds like you're kidnapping me."
River let out a small laugh, Althea could have sworn it was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. The way his perfect teeth glistened in even the dimmest lighting and how attractive he looked when his dimples were shown, his smile was contagious and it caused Althea to let out a small giggle as well.
" You should smile more."
This caused Althea to stop laughing at once and stare at him, the heat slowly rose to her cheeks and she was thankful that she couldn't be seen through the darkness. She stayed silent fiddling with her fingers awkwardly , he ran a hand through his chocolate colored hair and let out a breath.
" I made it awkward didn't I?"
Althea answered his question with a mere nod, by now they had driven past all the trees and found a clearing. River parked the car, then proceeded to get out and open Althea's door as well. She stepped out of the car closing the door behind her, she then proceeded to follow his lead. He walked up a cliff until they were nearing the edge, there taking place was a bonfire. River took her hand and lead her up to it, there were plenty of teenagers with red solo cup in their grasps, filled with what she presumed to be alcohol. A blond haired boy with shoulder length blonde hair approached them.
" River, how's it going?"
He then turned his attention to Althea.
"Have you tapped that yet?"
Althea's eyes narrowed.
" For your information he will never get to tap this."
The blond laughed then mentioned that he liked her feisty attitude. As the night when on she found out that his name was Dylan, they bonded for about half an hour. Althea was having such a good time she didn't even notice that River had left her to go mingle with a group of girls. She continued to pay attention when a huge guy walked up to River wearing a football varsity jacket, the conversation seemed to be getting heated. River then rushed over to her in panic.
" We need to go now."
" No I'm having fun talking to Dylan."
He rolled his eyes and waved goodbye to Dylan, Althea didn't understand why he dd this until he threw her over his shoulder and started walking to the car. When they had gotten back to the car Althea started to bombard him with questions.
" Why did we have to leave so suddenly?"
" I didn't feel like having my ass handed to me tonight."
