Hello Amaliah. I am Zora your wolf.

My what?

Your wolf. The goddess charged me with protecting you. I am your other half, your conscious. I am the animal version of yourself.

My mind was already reeling from meeting the Goddess, but now I have another person in my mind.

Not person. I assure you I am a wolf. And when you finally wake up I will prove it to you. For now, save your questions and rest.

Her voice had a nice lulling affect and even though I wanted to be alert, I couldn't help but let myself be drug into the darkness.

***

I heard voices. People talked and laughed. I squirmed and tried to open my eyes.

"Don't move. Or we'll be caught." A small voice hissed.

I swallowed hard. Caught by who?

I hadn't noticed it before but it absolutely reeked in this wagon like death.

I heard a man laugh and walk away from the wagon.

"Listen very carefully. That man that just walked away owns this wagon. He has walked away so now it is time to escape. If you in anyway jeopardize my freedom. I will kill you."

Anger rose in me like magma rising to become lava. It was weird. I felt a certain sense of dominance and her threatening me might not end well but I kept quiet.

"Right below you is a wobbly board. Remove it and slide face first beneath the wagon. Quickly."

I did as instructed and lifted the board just fine. My hands reached out and landed in dirt. A fresh breeze flew by and I was glad to rid my nose of that disgusting wagon stench. I slid out of the bottom of the wagon into the dirt. When my legs were freed I grasped the two hands that were reaching from the whole and pulled out a small child. All I could see was dirty hair and I didn't have time to really pay attention because she pushed me from under the wagon and told me to run.

I was in a barn. I smelled the hay and looked around to confirm my suspicions. I looked towards the door and there was a pair of feet. A man seemed to be pacing in front of the door. There were very few farms in Shukua. This one must not have been far from the Abyss so that would make it the farm owned by a man named Julik Nurmyan. I turned to look at the wagon and the scene before me horrified me. At least twenty young women's dead bodies were piled high. The land in Shukua is very dry and didn't contain much nutrients. There were rumors that Julik illegally fertilized his crops but I didn't think of this....

I turned to tell the girl what I had seen and I watched her crawl from under the wagon and glared at me. She was a lot smaller than I imagined. Shoulder length curly brown hair framed her round face and bangs swung over her light blue eyes.

"You're going to get us killed. I said run."

"I would but there is a person on the other side of the door." I growled quietly.

She looked towards the door when suddenly it opened. I turned to see a tall man with a sword in hand. He was filthy His eyes were bloodshot and his mouth seemed to be agape. He roared and ran at us with his sword in the air.

Now Amaliah. Zora whispered to me. In an instant, my instincts took over and a shot of pain ran through my body. In only seconds my bones shifted and my muscles stretched and pulled. My body transformed and I felt my paws on the ground. With no time to get used to my form I lunged at our attacker. His eyes widened as my mouth opened and fangs I had just discovered took him by his throat and broke his neck. His body slumped and his head hit the ground.

There is your proof.

I looked at the mystery girl. Her eyes were wide but not in fear. Her gaze resembled that of amazement and awe.

Shift back Amaliah.

Zora's command shook my entire body. Shifting back was much longer than the initial wolf shift. My bones creaked and groaned as they tried pulling themselves back together.

Your body will learn to piece itself back together more quickly. I just forced your shift but in time your will shift back in the blink of an eye by just using instincts.

My muscles finally snapped back and I was naked on the dirty ground among the rags of my wedding dress.

I looked up at the girl and she looked down at me. We shared a long stare off until finally I said, "We need to move before someone else shows up."

She just nodded and walked over to the wagon. At first, I was confused but I gasped as she pulled two items of clothing off a dead girls' body.

"This looks about your size." She tossed the clothes.

I gagged at the smell as I slid the garments on. I felt slimy and disgusting. What was the story behind the girl who wore these clothes? Did she suffer? I was plagued when a hand touched my shoulder.

"Don't think about it. Trust me or it will consume you." The girl said softly.

I followed her out the door and sunlight struck my caramel skin lovingly. Just like I'd thought. We were at a farm. Rows of wheat and corn stretched out before us.

"Into the field. C'mon let's go." The girl whispered. We ran into the field. It was just in time too because we heard loud voices.
