"Please! Don't leave me." he begged me on his knees as his heartbreaking tears rolled down his cheeks. My body tried so hard not to let out a terrible shake.

I didn't want to do this, but it was all part of the contract. I wanted to stay, I wanted to tell him that I'll always be here and that we can get married like we planned to do. But I couldn't. I couldn't stay due to this contract that was both giving me the best thing in my life and cursing me. It was time for me to leave, and that was the sad truth.

"I'll always love you, Tom." I say, as I let go of his cold hand. The last time I'll ever feel his touch. "Goodbye." I say as tears start to roll down my cheeks and I'm escorted by security. Once the door closed, so did my whole world.

1 year before..

"Brianna! Darling!" The door opened to my very petite but very loving roommate. I looked very annoyed as I had to pause once again on my favorite Netflix show, New Girl. "Yes?" I grunt, as I chew on the popcorn that's remaining on my bowl.

"Uncle Mike said he was going to call you soon, I gave you his number. Said something about business and you being the perfect girl for the job." She blabbed as she plopped down onto the couch.

I furrow my eyebrows together and give her a confuse look. "And what job is this?"

"Um. I dunno," She shrugs. I huff. Sure she doesn't. Melanie always knows what's going on with her Uncle Mike and all things business. It's her thing, being nosy that is.

Melanie and me have been friends since we were 5. Our mothers were great friends which other and became neighbors with each other. We did mostly everything together, and it became to the fact that we decided to go to the same college and move away from the big city of San Francisco and come to Los Angeles.

San Francisco is so much different from LA, and honestly I miss it. The cold weather is by far better than this hot sweaty weather, in my opinion. Speaking of my opinion, I should probably continue watching New Girl since Melanie is being quiet as fuck. An all time record for her since she's either singing or talking to me about her day and the daily drama between her and her new boyfriend Chad.

It sorta sucks not having a boyfriend. I mean, I am 25, I'm not getting any younger, and plus I'm hoping to grow a family and meet the love of my life as cheesy as it sounds. But I feel like the time is closing in, and the simple thought of that is depressing.

The buzzing on the table snapped me out of my day dream and I looked at the caller ID, (XXX)-XXX-XXXX, hmm I didn't recognize this number at all. "That's probably my uncle! Answer it!" A tiny excited voice beside me said.

Oh yeah, I forgot Mike was going to call me.

"Hello?" I answered after the 4th ring. To say I was nervous was an understatement. I was shitting bricks. Mike is the CEO of Inspire Pictures. They specialize in movies, TV shows, Advertisements etc. They are the biggest company next to Sony Pictures.

"Brianna! Its Mike, Melanie's fabulous Uncle, how are you?" He said in a cherry voice. I forgot how happy he was. Mike was 48, but looked like he was 35. I met him a few times at Melanie's family Barbecue's back in San Francisco. He wasn't really a big family back then, so wouldn't visit much until he met Stephanie and changed his life for the better as most may say.

"Ah yes! She did mention that you would call. I'm great, thank you. How about yourself?" I tried to sound happy and excited even but it more passed on as a student presenting in front of the class for the first time.

Mike chuckled, "Everything's great. Listen, I was hoping you would come down to the office. I need to discuss an important project that I'm working on, and I thought you'll be perfect for the job. Will you be available in let's say," he paused and I heard shuffling on the other end. "30 minutes?" He finally announced. I looked down at my wardrobe. Plain black t-shirt with jeans. Eh I can spice it up. "Yes, I'll be there." I responded, quickly standing up and heading towards my bedroom. "Great. See you here." And click. End of the phone call.
