Harry's p.o.vI sat alone in this shitty excuse of a cell, staring at the markings that I've made over the years in the wall. Since the first day I got into this hellhole, that's all I've been doing is marking on these god damned walls. Yeah I've made dumb, senseless markings but the first one I've ever made was the one of her. My sweet, gorgeous fiancé, Audrey. I lift my hand and touch the scored wall of her features before I close my eyes and remember the last time I saw her. The night everything went wrong.
I was stood over the stove, stirring the noodles while waiting for my wonderful fiancé to get home. Gosh how I can't wait to kiss her, to touch her. I smiled to myself as I imagined her beautiful features and her angelic laugh as I prepared the pasta dish before placing some servings on plates and setting them in the spots we sat at.
I poured some red wine in two glasses and set them by the plates before dimming the lights and waiting for my angel to get home. I looked at the clock to see it read 11:15. I furrowed my brows at the time and how she wasn't here. She gets off work no later than ten and we only live fifteen minutes away, so she should be here by now. I shrugged and just decided to wait because she might've had to stay longer to finish up some paperwork.
You see, she works at a newspaper company and edits and writes popular stories, while I work at home painting and selling my art work. I'm not as known as I wish I was but I'm slowly making my way up the totem pole of the art world. Every time my art sells, I get at least a good thousand dollars for it, which helps with rent and extra money while Audrey, my fiancé, makes good money with the newspaper company. We've never had a problem with money and we were practically set for life either all the extra money we've saved up, but over these past few weeks, she's been acting strange. She doesn't laugh like she used to with me, she's stays out later than necessary with her girl friends while I'm here by myself and our arguments about little things were more worse than they needed to be. I've shrugged them off but she's been hanging on to them and pushing me farther away from her. It's like she doesn't love me anymore.
I shake my head at the thought. I looked up at the clock to see 1:55 am. I shake my head, throw the napkin that was in my lap furiously onto the table before picking up the plates and emptying them in the trash. I take the leftovers and put them in a container for later and start to put the dishes in the sink but I stopped when I heard the front door open and close. I set the chopping block and knife down on the counter just in time to see Audrey come waltzing in like everything's fine.
"Hey, Harry." She mumbles as she walks past the kitchen and into the bedroom without throwing me a glance. I scoff and follow her just in time to see her taking off the tight blouse she was wearing and change into a sleeping shirt she bought instead of one of my shirts. She took off her skirt and put it in the dirty clothes basket along with the shirt and bra, but when she walked past me without acknowledging me, I grabbed her wrist and turned her to look at me.
"What the hell, Audrey! You've been gone for three hours! Where have you been?" I said while staring down at her with anger. She pulled her wrist out of my hand and rolled her eyes before saying, "I just went with some friends, Harry. Calm down." She brushed past me and went down the hallway to the kitchen with me following on her heals. "Calm down?! You want me to calm down?! No, I will not calm down because you've been staying out unnecessarily late, doing only God knows what while I've been here waiting on you!" I yelled losing all composer I've had left.
She shrugged her shoulders and grabbed a water bottle out of the fridge and started drinking. I growled and yelled, "What the fuck is the matter with you, Audrey!? It's like you don't even care anymore and it's starting to piss me off!" She spun around and slammed the bottle on the cabinet before screaming, "You know what, Harry!? I wasn't going to do this until tomorrow but I might as well do it tonight!" She tried to march past me but I blocked the door way with my body before saying, "What are you talking about?"
