Maggie's p.o.v

I stared at the reflection of the man behind me, mouth slightly parted and fear racing through my body. I closed my mouth and blinked a few times just to make sure I wasn't hallucinating but after every blink, the face would fade until there wasn't anything there. I furrowed my brows and quickly spun around to find the living room empty and the same way I left it. "What?" I whispered to myself as I closed my eyes before opening them again to find the room the same way I left it. I shook my head and whispered to myself once more, "I must be dreaming."

I slowly took a step forward, looking around for the man that I thought was standing behind me, but I didn't see anything. I couldn't shake the feeling of another's presence in the house with me so I quickly pulled out my phone, dialing my fathers number but when the flash of lightening lit up the living room, I caught a quick glance of a silhouette of a tall man standing near the stairs, making me freeze with fear as my dad picked up the phone.

"Maggie?" He asked while I stood frozen in the middle of the living room as the man started making his way over to me in slow, menacing steps. "Maggie, what's going on? Are you alright?" He asked once more, voice starting to get more serious. The man is finally beside me, and by judging how tall he is, I know I wouldn't have a chance fighting against him because he would easily over power me, and when his hand latched onto the end of my phone and tugged, I tightened my grip on the device.

"Maggie, answer me!" My dads panicked voice boomed through the speaker. I looked down at the phone before I could see out of the corner of my eye, the man putting a finger to lips to 'shh' me before tugging on the phone again. I took a few deep breaths before letting it a yell before pushing the man, sending him back a few steps while my phone crashed to the floor. "Ahh!" He yelled when he hit the ground. "Maggie!" My Dad yelled as I dove for my phone before getting up and running but a hand grabbing my ankles and tripping me.

I hit the floor, knocking all of the air out of my lungs and stunning me. I look up to see my phone slid under the couch before looking back at the man and kicking him in his face. "You fucking bitch!" He screamed while cupping his face, giving me time to stand to my feet and run and jump over the couch and flip it over to retrieve my phone. I grabbed it and  took off towards the front door while yelling into the microphone, "Help m-" but I was silenced by a arm connecting with my throat, sending me onto my back.

I coughed and choked on air as my throat start to swell at the impact of the clothesline. The man stepped out of the doorway to the kitchen and over my air deprived body and to my phone before picking it up and ending the call on my panicking parents. He gave me a smile before slamming the phone on the ground beside my head, making me whimper and flinch away from the loud crash and pieces that flew off of my phone. Blood was running from his nose as he stared down at me, breathing heavily, making me shrink into the floor as much as I could.

His smile slowly turned into a snarl as he grabbed me by the front of my shirt and pulled me to my feet. He fisted my shirt to the point it ripped and his knuckles were white, making me close my eyes and lean away from him. "Please, don't kill me! I'll give you money, jewelry, or whatever you want, please just don't hurt me!" I rambled out as hot tears ran down my face, taking my mascara with it.

I kept my eyes closed, waiting for death but when he released my shirt, I slowly opened my eyes to see him giving me a sympathetic look before slowly wrapping his arms around my small shoulders, engulfing me in a hug. A hug. He stayed like that while I tensed up because some weird guy who broke into my house, smashed my phone, and looked like he was about to kill me, is now hugging me. What the fuck. He pulled away and looked at me for a moment before saying, "I've missed you so much, Audrey."
