Inevitable

Close encounters

Dreams, I'm not sure how many floated in my head, most I couldn't call dreams as they included those creatures. They chased me down dark hallways, they pounced from the ceilings, they wailed and snarled, taunting me with their tongues, lashing out but never hitting me.
I run, I fall, I get back up, I hide, I attack but they're relentless and never ending.

Then there's light, finally and I run towards it. I halt as I get there although I could still hear the creatures behind me.
"Leon?" He's standing there, a cocky smile in place.
"Wake up Ally, I told you you couldn't die on me, remember?"
"Yeah" I mutter as the hallway goes silent.
I turn behind me but the monsters have gone.
"So wake up!"

Pain suddenly surrounds me, so hot and severe I find myself gasping in pain. I hear a faint beeping to my right and moan in discomfort.
I finally manage to pry my eyes open and they adjust to my dim surroundings.
The first thing I see is my leg in a huge metal contraction and I feel my tears prick at the back of my eyes.
I wasn't a doctor but it was obvious there's a rod in my Tibial keeping me together. I look away and instead concentrate on the room I'm in. It's a small hospital room that I thankfully have to myself. It's dark, meaning it's late, there's a light coming from the window to my right although the blinds down.
I have a cannula in my arm with two bags, one I can see is morphine, and empty, the beeping to tell the nurses that don't seem to be around.
I hover my fingers over the call button and prepare myself for what's to come.

3 days later~

"The papers aren't giving details and there's been nothing on the news about it" my sister tells me as she sits beside my hospital bed
"My guess is the government doesn't want it getting out, what did the papers say?" I ask as I peer out my rooms window to see the hospital staff walking the halls outside.
"Just that the lab went up in flames, that there's an investigation going on as to how it happened and how many casualties their are"
"So nothing about deadly creatures?" I ask
"No, nothing!"
"I wonder how many died" I say as my door knocks
It opens seconds later, a nurse peering in and behind her is a man with familiar dirty blond hair.
"Allison, you have a visitor"
She steps aside and in he walks, wearing a blue skin tight shirt and a flight jacket.
"Hey" he says as the nurse shuts the door and I find I have a smile on my face.
"Hi" I beam and my sister gives me a confused look
"Erm, this is my sister Rachel, Rachel, this is ....Leon? the guy that saved my life" Leon nods with a smile letting me know I remembered his name right and my sister stands, surprising Leon with a hug.
"Thank you so much for being there for my little sister"
Leon smiles as my sister lets him go
"No need to thank me, your sisters quite capable" he says and I smile
"But still" She says, offering Leon the only chair she occupied before his arrival. He waves her off and allows her the seat and comes to stand at the end of the bed.
"Thank you, I hear you were the one that managed to get my sorry ass into an ambulance" I say remembering what a doctor told me.
"Yeah, you were too busy sleeping"
"You mean being passed out?" I laugh noticing as well as cocky Leon is also quite funny.
He smiles at my comment and hands me some grapes
"It's what you get people in hospitals right?" He asks, my sister taking them from me to put on the table along with my flowers my sister had bought from my father who couldn't visit.
"Thank you, I heard you visited after my operation"
"Yeah, they only allowed me to see you for a minute though, they didn't think you'd wake up"
"Yeah, I'm surprised I did too"
"You're a fighter" my sister comments
"So what happened?" I ask him
"Well Clark Evans, the man in charge of OSCO Bioscience, also the man that hit you with a metal bar and locked you in that room, escaped with all his data!" Both their eyes are on me as I hear the name of the man responsible for my near death at the lab.
My boss.
"So he's out there?" I ask him
"He was last seen boarding a ship heading South, we have a team after him as we speak"
"Good!" My sister snaps
"And that's not all!" He says causing me to look away from my sister back to him
"We know he was using OSCO as a cover, he is in fact involved with Umbrella, using his lab as a cover to do more research, the next few months there's going to be a lot of investigations into labs all around the world, any could in fact be a cover for Umbrella!"
"Shit, there could be hundreds out there!" I say
"And thanks to you, we're going to eradicate all of them, there wont be much left of Umbrella once we're through!" He deadpans and I feel relieved. I knew if anyone could do that mission 20 times over it was Leon.
"Wait so, are you leading more of those raids?"
"Don't worry, I won't break a leg" he remarks with a cocky teasing smile and my sister hums a laugh
"But there could be more of those things!" I say, too worried for humor
"Don't worry about me, more importantly, how are you?"
I sigh and move my numb ass
"Fed up, Least I get to leave this place tomorrow though" I admit
"What time?"
"As soon as I get my hands on the release forms!"

"I love you" my sister says a few minutes later when visiting time is called.
She hugs me and I smile up at her as she releases me.
"I love you too"
"Now, are you sure you don't want me to call in sick?!" She asks again
"Yes! You and Mark need the money" I say putting my hand on her stomach.
"I'll catch a cab"
"You better get someone to meet you to help you up those stairs!" She orders
"I will"
She stands near the door and I look to Leon.
"Thank you, again, if there's anything I can do to repay you for saving my life, you let me know!"
He smiles
"You can buy me a beer when I get back from my next mission" he says
"Deal"
With that they both leave and I find myself smiling.

A minute later a nurse comes to check on me, turning my light off after handing me a glass of water I asked for and I try and get some sleep.

Not even a full minute later the door opens again but there's no knock. I open my eyes to see a dark figure closing the door quietly behind them.
I could tell it was a man from his form in his black hoodie and immediately I knew something was wrong.
"Who are you?" I ask trying to sit up the best I can with my leg.
He grabs my pillow from under my head and I scream into it, not being fast enough.
My hands go out but I couldn't reach his face as I try desperately to breathe.
Instead I bring my left leg up and aim as hard as I can for his head. I know I hit my mark when he groans in pain. I get a lungful of air but the pillows then pushed down even harder. I gulp desperately for air as my lungs burn. I kneed him, hitting him somewhere on his side but this time he takes the hit. I scratch and dig my nails into his hands as my body jolts, fighting for oxygen.
