Four o'clock.
The time Jane went away to flirt with the gardener..Perfect time for a trapped soul like me to wander out in the streets. Oh well...I'll be back home soon so no one will find out about my escapade. Not this time. Chuckling to myself I slowly crept downstairs.
"And where do you think you're going young lady?"What the ....Mother??!!What so now my parents were taking leaves from work so that they can watch over me? I was not three years old,I'm seventeen for heavens sake...
"Oh mother why aren't you at the office today? Are you not well?"I inquired turning towards my mother who was now coming towards me.
"Nah...I'm fine. I came back for some paper work.",She said showing me some bundles of paper.
Ahhh..my mother was one hell of a lady. She was the head writer of the women's magazine ' Lady power ' where she encourages ladies from all over England to express their ideas and to show them that they are not man's slave but free souls. She tells them that all women should get the right to vote and to ride bicycles in the street and to wear trousers if they really want to. But no lady has ever tried that last one. Even I find that completely insane. Just imagine girls wearing trousers and not dresses....haha completely unimaginable.
"So where are you going?Running again are you?"
"Me? Oh no mother I'm not running away. This time I'm actually here to get permission from you...to umm... wander into the streets as a free girl and...um...enjoy ...nature.",I said finding my words.
"Oh stop it with the lies Ella.I know my daughter. What are you upto now? "
"Fine Mother...Yes I was going to run away again until you caught me.But do you know where I was going to? The southern bridge..."I said dreamily holding my mother's hands.
"The southern bridge? Why there?"
"Mother...It is the best place where you can see the sea. Where the waves seem to whisper your name. And the sky meets the sea allowing it to swallow up the sun....it's just amazing.Isn't it?"
"It is.It reminds me of the expeditions your father and I had those days in the sea...ahh wonderful days.",she said smiling."Have I ever told you about the time I smoked with the ship captain dressed as a lady?"
"You did mother..",I said laughing along with her.
"Oh you should have seen your father's face...ahh sweet memories..",she said looking at me.
Silence. We were both trapped in our imaginations smiling like idiots until mother broke it up.
"Okay so if you're ready..shall we go?"
"What? You're taking me with you?",I said smiling from ear to ear.
"Why not? I don't want my pretty daughter to be walking out all the way there on foot now would I ? Come along"
I followed my mother outside and we got into a carriage.
I got down at the southern bridge and watched the carriage go.And then I made my way to my secret spot.It was well hidden and you had to get there through the bushes. And once you're out you can walk into a sandy land where the waves come to meet the land.No one else ever comes there. It was my spot.I loved to spend my evenings putting my feet just close enough to the sea so that the waves just touched them.
I tied up my hair and took off my shoes.I heard the sea calling out to me.A much deep sound than the usual actually....I took my steps forward. It was calling my name...
"Miss Ella.....Wait...."
The waves were sweeping up the land and it called out to me again...
"Miss Ella...don't do this..."
It was....wait whatttt??Why was the sea telling me not to come towards it? And why did the sea have an unusual accent?Oh no...it could mean only one thing..I was not alone.
I quickly turned around to see a young man making his way towards me.He looked about twenty and wore a black shirt that showed off his tan skin colour and his jet black hair. When he ran the wind played with his hair making it fall in front of his eyes.Oh god..why do you have to create such heavenly beings? It is a crime you know...giving mini heart attacks to girls like me.
Wait....Was I just staring at a man?I quickly came back to my senses. And he now stood a few feet from me.
"Miss.Ella...I am sorry but I cannot let you do this."
Good looks and cute accent??!! This was definetely too much god.
"Miss. You have to come with me now ,I'm gonna have to take you home."
I found my voice back.
" I am a free soul and I have the right to wander into parts of this land as a citizen of this country.Who gave you to stop me from doing that?"
"Your bodyguard..."
