"You hired a man to guard our daughter? Oh wait...man is not the key word..You hired a man to guard our daughter? But isn't that a waste of money?"
"It is but he agreed to do the job for a low salary.",my father mumbled coolly.
Oh...that just explains it..
"But Rick you could have asked Karim to do that.."
"I could and even would have got what I wanted without paying a single penny. But this young man seemed more likely for the job."
"But you could have even asked Ella to come over. She is her aunt after all."
"How can she Lilly..don't you remember she is expecting a baby. I can't simply allow her to run around with that stomach."
"Oh darn it...I forgot. Then what about her uncle?"
"Lilly....Carter is a captain. He has much more important things to do other than running behind a small girl."
A small girl??!!! I was seventeen for heaven's sake...urghhhhh
"Fine...So how long has he been training for? I'm sure Karim must have given one of his well trained men for this of course.."
"Actually he's not one of Karim's men. In fact the lad just started work two days ago"
"You are putting the safety of your daughter in the hands of some man you met two days ago??!!",I finally spoke out making both their heads turn towards me.I just couldn't hold back anymore. I had to speak for my freedom.
"Well he suited the job well. And I like him. That's my final decision and I will not talk about this anymore. I'm not wasting anymore of my time talking about this." And with that father left the room leaving me and my mother speechless.
Silence.
"You know that young man must have done something really big to win your father's trust like that. He doesn't usually trust just anyone....specially when it comes to the safety of his daughter."
"Please just stop mother...",I felt my eyes getting filled."All my life I have been treated like a kid.I'm like a prisoner stuck within these walls. Even if I wanted to go outside I always had to go with someone to guard me. I was home tutored and has only seen the world through books."
"Your father is only trying to protect you Ella. When you were born and he took you in his arms, that was the first time I saw your father's tears. And it would hurt him a lot if something bad happens to you.He loves you too much."
"No he doesn't.All he does is think about himself and his money. And it's not my fault that he has so many enemies...why wasn't I just born to a normal family?"
And with that I ran out of the room.
