The only noises in the apartment was the buzzing of the building's A.C, the gentle snoring of Valt, and the light shuffling of a fully awake Spryzen blader.
Shu had gotten out of bed and had been pacing around in the dark living room for almost 30 minutes.
Sleeping in the same room as his best friend, and secret crush, was a little too much for him. He couldn't concentrate on getting some rest, not with Valt being so close, even if they weren't exactly on the same bed.
Why did I ask him to spend the night here? What was I thinking? This was a terrible idea - yet it isn't such a bad idea...
Shu stopped his pacing and looked over to his room. The entire apartment was dark but he could still see his friend sleeping figure.
I'm over complicating this, I just need to lay down and try again.
The silvery white haired male made his way back to the bedroom and stopped at the air mattress.
He knelt down to observe the bluenette.
Valt's face was buried into the side of hid pillows and blankets, a little drool forming at the corners of his lips.
Shu couldn't stop the smile that formed on his lips nor could he stop the hand that reached out and brushed over the red markings on the Valt's cheek. It was almost an instinct that made him do these things.
Sighing, Shu removed his hand and made his way back to his bed. He only glanced at Valt once more before turning to face the wall. The thought of facing Valt in an attempt to fall asleep worried Shu.
What if he accidentally stayed up the rest of the night watching the other sleep? What if he'd do something he'd regret - kissing the other in his sleep? Or - wait... Why was he thinking these things about his best friend? It was because the bluenette was so vulnerable in his sleep. Rather the real reason was Valt was also Shu's secret crush...
The Spryzen blader could feel an embarrassing blush slowly burn on his cheeks.
A small signal telling him to keep facing the wall.
But then, there's a noise. The sound of the noise rings quietly in the room to Shu's ears, he shivers.
It's probably just the A.C. being turned on...
The noise sounds again, slowly rising in pitch. It's almost as if something had been blocking its volume before...
Again, Shu ignores it.
This time, however, when the noise sounds, Shu turns around in his bed. Now that he's gotten a proper hearing of the noise, Shu no doubtedly recognizes it as a whimper.
Scarlet orbs land upon Valt's sleeping figure for the seconds time since they opened that night.
The bluenette's head had moved away from the pillows and blankets and now lay on the air mattress. His body appeared as if it were curling into itself under the blankets.
Maybe he's cold? Shu wondered.
His apartment was usually much colder at night. But the A.C. wasn't even running right now and it for sure wasn't hot either.
Once again Valt whimpers. Only this time the whimper is noticeably different than the last ones.
This one was a broken whimper.
Someone or something was really hurting him in his dream.
That was it! Shu knew what it felt like to have bed dreams - he could handel them - but knowing his best friends was having one wasn't something he could handel.
