"What's your favourite piece in a chess board?" he asked the nine year old.
"The King," the nine year old replied without a thought.
"But I don't understand why it is your favourite piece. It can move only one step at a time and you have to keep defending it. It is the least powerful piece in the game," he said thinking. "I'd prefer a pawn, it gets to be a powerful piece when it reaches the far end of the board."
"You're right uncle. A pawn can be anything but never a King," the nine year old replied. She moved a knight and said, "that's checkmate uncle," and walked away.
