Chapter 3: The beginning

Zayda's POV:

Later that night:
"AHH!" I screamed, awoke from my dream, "I can't believe there was a fire in Madeline and Valencia's house! I hope they weren't in there!" I cried out quietly; stunned out of horror. I got up out of bed all sweaty to get some ice water, I put my slippers on and walked to my door and opened it. I walk into the hallway and down stairs to the kitchen. When I walked into the kitchen I walked towards the cabinet and to get a glass out of it and once I opened it I noticed a brown spider in the far left corner. I was about to scream until I noticed that it didn't crawl away as I was about to smash it, still a little scared, I quickly grabbed my glass and shut the cabinet behind me. It wasn't until I walked over to the fridge; and I realized my older brother Jake was acting suspicious this morning when I walked into the kitchen to eat my breakfast that my mom prepared for me; and as I walked by he quickly walked away from the cabinets and laughed at something, but I didn't think most of it after I left for school. I rolled my eyes annoyed, "Ugh! So that's why he was acting all weird this morning, he was hiding his stupid fake spider to scare me if I grabbed a glass out of there! I swear he can be a pain in the ass sometimes!" When I calmed down I put my glass under the ice dispenser and pushed the button, the sound of the ice pouring into my glass made so much noise, I thought it would wake up my mom, so I just stopped before it did so and filled my glass the rest of the way with water.

I turned around to walk out of the kitchen and turned off the light, walked to the stairs and started walking up them carefully making sure I didn't spill my water.  As I was walking up the stairs to go back to my room, I could have sworn I heard footsteps coming from my mom's room; so as quickly and quietly as I can, I speed walk as fast I could to my bedroom without spilling my water and closed the door behind me. I sighed a breath of relief when I heard the footsteps come out of Jake's room instead of my mom's. I went over towards my night stand to set the glass of water down then got into bed and laid down on my pillow. I couldn't stop thinking about my nightmare earlier and how desperately I wanted to FaceTime Valencia and Madeline or go into our group chat just to check and see if they had a similar dream and if it would actually happen, but I immediately got rid of the thought from my mind, "no, that's not possible, there's no way Val and Madeline can have a similar dream as me, right?" I questioned as I stared at my pitch black room which seemed for hours.

Two minutes later when I finally fell asleep, my six-year-old sister Gabriella opened the door and came into my room and plopped down on the bed beside me.She tapped on me until I finally managed to get some words out of my mouth, "what? I'm trying to sleep." She just looked at me blankly, "sissy? Can I sleep with you? I had a nightmare." "Mmmhmm." I said, before drifting back off to sleep.

*DING, DING, DING!*

I woke up in the middle of the night to my phone going off with DOZENS of texts messages from our group chat, along with some Facetime calls from both Madeline and Valencia. I read the messages and chuckled when I read Avalon's text:

[12:30am] Ava:
I understand we don't have school anymore since we're now officially on summer break, but did you two seriously have to spam call this chat? I was in the middle of a saucy dream😭✋🏻

I laughed to myself and situated my body and bumped into someone, it startled me but I remembered that my sister came into my room and asked to sleep in here, I rolled my eyes as I looked at my phone and hit the request to Facetime my friends.

After what seemed like hours of waiting for them to answer their phones, Madeline, Valencia, and Avalon finally answered. "Zay? WHAT IN THE HELL?! WE'VE BEEN TRYING TO CALL YOU AN HOUR AGO! IT TOOK YOU LONG ENOUGH!" I jumped in surprise at how loud they were, "OKAY DAMN... at least keep it down ok? My sister is sleeping in here, and first of all I was in the middle of sleeping when you guys decided to call me! Like you two do realize what time it is right?" I laughed at the looks on there faces, especially on Avalon's "I'm just as annoyed as you are Zay; but mostly confused. Why are you guys calling this late?" After a second of bare silence after Avalon asked them a question, I chimed in and raised an eyebrow "yea why did you guys decide to call me?" Madeline moved her eyes to the left and mumbled, "I have no idea.." I raised my eyebrow, noticing her voice trail off when she said that.
