One afternoon until he would have to summon a demon king the greedy man thought as a cool breeze rolled over the vast fields of stranglewheat which was currently being harvested by his many slaves. Stranglewheat was a wheat so long and rope like it was rumored to have been used to hang people, hence the name 'stranglewheat'. Oh yeah, that reminded him he still had to choose a kid to be possessed. another wonderful item to add to his list of things to do. Most of his slaves had friends, if one just disappeared it wouldn't go unnoticed. Then there would be questions, people asking where they went. how would he answer them? Deep in thought the greedy man didn't realize that a group villagers were throwing stones at a slave until one landed right in front of him.

"Hey!, You break it you buy it!" he yelled getting up from his chair which was no easy feat for the overweight slave owner. While they were angry the poor villagers didn't want to cause any trouble for the rich man as it would mean he wouldn't sell them food for the upcoming winter. Even though it was pretty tame in these areas winter was still a killer for those who couldn't afford sufficient food. The villagers quickly dispersed dropping or throwing any left over stones. wading through the thick crops the slaver searched for the one causing all this trouble. After a few seconds of being lost he finally found a scrawny boy leaning on his scythe with blood running from an injury caused by the stones.

"Get up" he said with a snarl. The boy worriedly looked up from his injury. He had long dirty brown hair which was so disheveled and choppy it looked as if he had cut it with a saw, he had blue eyes and scars randomly poking out of his rags which were soaked with blood.

"Ugh" he grunted

"get back to work" he said wondering why the boy had so many scars. The boy hurriedly got back to where he was. Adopting a left handed stance he continued his harvesting. Left handed? oh... that's why the villagers were attacking him. Wait he thought, this was perfect! He could let the boy get possessed. No-one would notice! No-one would care! Rubbing his hands together with anticipation he called out to the overseer.

"Yes sir?" he called back.

"Come here". After a few seconds of blind navigating, the overseer stumbled out of the thick foliage and onto the recently harvested ground.

"You called sir?".

"Yes, I want you to see to it that this boy is healed and properly fed".

"the lefty? why would you care?" he said confused.

"I didn't ask for questions did I? just do it" looking at the boy with disgust

"follow me" he ordered, the contempt in his voice obvious, he stormed off. The boy looked to his owner for confirmation.

"Go with him". Hurrying after the overseer who so clearly despised him, he did as he was told. Turning around the slave owner noticed for the first time there were no other slaves working in this field... and it was almost done. That boy would have had to have started working at the crack of dawn he thought, and the night was almost upon them.

The lefty? what was going through that fat blobs head? thought the overseer as the kitchen came into view. he threw a sidelong glance at the ragged boy who trailed him with his head down. I don't see nothin special about him. Well other than the fact that he looks almost dead. Opening the door to the kitchen he was hit by the scent of cheap vegetable soup. Leaning over the counter he said

"can I get a bowl of soup?".

"Dinner isn't for another hour and a half" said the butch cook. "You"ll have to wait".

"it's only for the lefty, it doesn't matter if it's under cooked". The cook turned around giving him a quizzical look.

"The lefty? Oh no, he doesn't get fed when I'm cooking". He said looking at the boy who was in the corner who was trying to look invisible.

"You hear that left hander? Get out of my kitchen!" he yelled. The boy went to scurry out before the cook got any angrier.

"No, stay". the overseer said.

"Look, I don't like leftys any more than you do but old fatso told me to get him fed and healed". After a few seconds of consideration, the cook gave in. Grunting he passed a hot bowl of soup to the overseer but he still stared daggers at the young slave. Finding an empty table wasn't-hard as there were only two other people murmuring to each other looking at them. The overseer motioned for the boy to sit. With the bowl in front of him the boy still didn't dare eat.

"You can eat". The boy looked around as if searching for a trap before grabbing the spoon. After nothing happened he ate like a wild dog, shoveling food into his mouth. When he was done he quickly checked his surroundings again.

"Come on let's get you patched up". he said walking towards another door.

"Boss wants him healed" he said throwing a thumb backward at the boy, to someone tending to the wounds of another injured slave. turning around she smiled at the boy.

"Come here" she said. He approached cautiously. When she went to lift up his shirt to see the injury he flinched expecting an attack.

"Oh don't worry I'm not going to hurt you" she said and had a look at the injury.

"Oh my, would you be a dear and get some cloth from the cupboard" she said looking at the overseer. He did as he was told but when he looked in the cupboard there were no cloths. Turning around to announce his findings the nurse stood in his way.

"Why is he so timid?" she asked in a quiet but stern voice.

"Ummm" he couldn't think of anything else, all he had to explain it was

"he's a lefty". She stood shocked at his reply.

"that's it? he's left handed?" she said appalled

"Left handed people are evil" he proclaimed. she turned to look at the boy who was helping the sick slave eat her food.

"evil is he?" she questioned angrily. She opened a pot with a couple of cloths in it and grabbed a few. she marched off towards the slaves.

"Here let me patch you up" she said tying the cloths around his chest sealing the wound.

"There how does that feel?" she asked sweetly.

"Thank you" he piped up for the first time. She tousled his hair before returning to the sick girl. That was it his job was done he thought shaking his head as he left the infirmary. Seriously? Someone who sympathizes over left handers?
