The Life/Death of Ray

Chapter 4: Memories

"Get up you lazy ass." Raymin awakes to see his best friend Johnathan Wolfskin. "Come on, Sloth is a sin y'know?" "If it is, call me a sinner." Raymin replies, now as alive as ever. Johnathan reaches his hand out and Raymin takes it and pulls himself up. "We should head up to the cave know, it seems like all the bandits have gone somplace else." Johnathan says. Raymin puts on his Arian armor, which was a set of silver armor with gold trimmings and an eagle brandished on the chest. "Alright lets get going." Raymin said as they begin to walk up the mountain. "You sure everyone is clear from the cave." "I'm sure. We should be clear to get in and get out without a hitch." Johnathan responded. As they got further up the mountain they begin to see signs and symbols created by bandits. Most signs said 'keep out' or 'die scum'. "Well that's inviting." Raymin said. "So inviting we're about to go in." Johnathan replied. They both chuckled as they reached the entrance to the cave. As they walked in they noticed there wasn't much in the actual cave. "Y'know for a bandit camp there ain't much here." Raymin said "Actually now that you mention it, there is a suspicious lack of anything." Johnathan replied. As they walked farther in they notice a red light towards the front of the cave. As they turned to look an explosion goes off. The cave begins to collapse. "We gotta get out of here!" Johnathan yelled. But before Raymin could run for the entrance, it hsd been blocked off by debris. Raymin slams his fist against the rocks. "Fucking dammit, it was a trap! What now?" As he turned around Raymin noticed Johnathan had a black expression on his face. "Johnathan? Hey, you alright buddy?" At that moment Johnathan's eyes changed from a light blue to a crimson red. Raymin stepped towards Johnathan. "Come on John, you're freaking me out." Johnathan unsheathed his great sword and swings it at Raymin. Raymin blocks it with his shield and jumps back. "What the hell man!" But Johnathan wouldn't respond and swung at Raymin again. Raymin blocks once again and says "Come on John, you're better then this!" But it was all for not as Johnathan continued his attack. After a few minutes of fighting Johnathan landed a hit that knocked Raymin's shield out of his hand and within the blink of an eye he was impaled by Johnathan. After he impaled Raymin Johnathan returned to normal. Noticing what had happened Johnathan began to tear up. He pulled the sword out of Raymins abdomen. Raymin falls and Johnathan holds him."Ray! Ray! Oh god I'm so sorry Ray! This wasn't how it was supposed to go! Come on buddy don't give up!" But it was too late Raymin was fading in and out of consciousness. But before he passed out Raymin saw a shadowy robed figure appeared behind Johnathan. And then everything turned black for Raymin. He remembers this darkness, this emptiness. It's death, the death he was oh so familiar with. For a second he felt sadness and loneliness again. In that moment he saw a light coming from the darkness. And from the light he saw a beautiful woman in a black dress with long dark flowing hair. She reached out to Raymin and he grabbed her hand. When he grabbed her hand he woke up in the middle of a prison cell.
