FOG MISTED THE AIR, not the kind that arises during cold weather or at the peak of dawn. It was smoke emitted from the blood magic of the Witches surrounding her.
She'd immediately summoned Freya, seeking for the help she desperately needed.
Her cousin's army had come quickly but Angel blood had already been shed.
They couldn't fight, instead, healing each other after receiving new injuries. And they would've all been slain and turned into wingless heap of bodies in the ground without Yun Zhao's assistance.
His fighting style was swift and brutal. Deft twists of his fingers and steel slashed an unprepared Witch's throat. Smooth, controlled movements held the spear that he twiddled with the confidence, that made it seem like it was the easiest thing to do in the land.
She was watching him from a distance, healing the smallest injuries before it worsened time after time.
He was fighting side by side with Freya's legendary army. Her heart slightly calmed now that they had allies against the common enemy.
But something wasn't quite right.
A resurrected warrior much larger than him was speedily barging straight toward.....Yun Zhao.
The warrior's long sword was dangerously palmed between his closed knuckle. His expression open, the intent--obvious.
Steel met flesh straight through the heart. Yun Zhao's body stilled, the crackling thunder gone, the power of lightning within his veins ceased to remain.
For a moment, his killer looked down at the lifeless body on the ground then left.
"There is glory and redemption in every death"
Rafaela remembered the words Zhao had solemnly uttered a few days back when they were conversing about the sudden death of the people that she couldn't save.

ooking at the gaping wound where his heart had been, Rafaela had lived long enough to know that no matter how powerful you are, some wounds cannot be healed.
