This is a three-part short story that occurs after the kids from The Brother and The Pursuit of Happiness have grown up. Marine Delafield and the Cavanaugh twins have returned home from college to have a family dinner and deliver some happy news. Ho...
"Are you ready?"asked Gwen as she closed her luggage.
"Yeah. It's only for three days right? I shouldn't need too much," said Marine. Yet, she still looked nervously around their small apartment.
Gwen stared back at her usually confident friend. "It's fine. You double-packed everything. And you never double-pack."
Marine nodded. "You're right. Let's get ready. Your brother should be here soon."
As if he was called, Marine's phone buzzed. She smiled as she checked her message. Sure enough, there he was.
McCoy: Coming up now.
She buzzed him in and within minutes, he was there. When she opened the front door, he scooped her into his arms, giving her a deep kiss that turned all her systems on. Her arms automatically slid around his shoulders, pulling his lips closer. He groaned, feeling her response. Then, they were interrupted by the person in the room that they always seem to forget.
"Sorry to interrupt, but I would like to go."
McCoy let out a deep chuckle as he pulled away from Marine. She couldn't hold back her admiration at his great looks. As they had grown up together, his cute looks had turned him into a very handsome man. He was a spitting image of the older Cavanaugh. And Liam Cavanaugh personified that old saying that men grew old like fine wine. He had that Cavanaugh look of deep black hair with light grey eyes.
"You're right. I want to get on the road before we hit the city traffic back home." Marine walked over to grab her bag, but it was taken away from her by none other than her very caring boyfriend.
"I can't let you carry that, baby," He pecked her quickly before heading to the door. Gwen, on the other hand, struggled.
"What about me?" said Gwen as she hefted her bag in the air. McCoy looked at his sister as she huffed a strand of red away.
"I would say you shouldn't have packed so much."
Gwen rewarded him with a glare. "But I won't. I've got it, little sis." He walked over and grabbed her bag as well. Marine watched him leave, admiring how his arm muscles bulged as he carried their bags.
Gwen nudged her friend to the present. "You two are so disgusting with your lovey-doveyness. If anything it's gotten worse lately with everything that happened. Ugh."
Marine just shrugged. "Well, your brother is damn hot. What do you expect?"
Gwen pulled a face and headed out. Marine laughed, joining her friend.

As they pulled up to the Cavanaugh estate, Marine's nerves kicked in. She began to fidget as she saw the distance closing in on her. This was a trip that they had taken many times before, but it was different now. She felt a hand grip her own. She looked to McCoy who only smiled at her before turning back to face the road. Feeling his warmth, she began to calm down. He always knew what she needed.
