"Yes!" Cried Dyandra after Carter asked her if they wanted to get back together.

"Let's just forget everything that happened in the past."

Dyandra smiled at him.

"Hah, already forgotten." She thought.

"Okay." She said as Carter shot her a small smile.

Carter put his hand out for Dyandra to shake, but Dyandra grabbed his hand and pulled him towards her and gave him a kiss.

People stared at them weirdly and whispered things to each other, but Dyandra didn't care.

She finally had Carter to herself.

Carter quickly let go of the kiss.

"So um, I'll see you later..." He said walking away in a daze.

"Bye Carter! Love you!" She shouted to him as Carter looked back at her with a smile.

After school, Carter went home and found his father, that was a police officer, sitting on the couch reading a newspaper. It was unusual seeing him at home because he was always at work. He looked up to see Carter shutting the front door.

"Oh, Carter. Your here." His dad said.

"Hey dad." He replied throwing his backpack on the chair and flopping on the couch next to him.

"I really need to talk to you,"

"Hm, okay. About what?"

"Well today, you might have heard I was at your school, investigating the school stage where that girl was killed. You know, that girl you dated for a while, what was her name agai-"

"Mary Jane!" Carter exclaimed as his face beamed up.

"Uh, I think that's what her name was." He replied.

"So, what did you find?"

His dad reached into his pocket and pulled out a gold earring. He gave it to Carter.

"We didn't find anything except that gold earring. I was hoping you might know who this earring belonged to."

Carter stared at the earring.

"Wait , isn't this the earring I gave to Dyandra on her birthday last year..?" He thought.

Carter looked back at his dad.

"Doesn't look familiar to me.." He lied.

His dad sighed. "Great. This investigation has gotten a lot harder. The only thing we know is the murderer must be a girl."

Carter looked away.

"How do you, uh know that it belonged to the murderer?" Carter asked nervously.

"Well, the janitor sweeps the stage everyday. He always needs to go under the stage to get his supplies. He said he never saw that earring until that day he saw it lying in a pool of blood last month or so. The day Mary Jane died."

Carter's heart start to pump.

"Uh- I should start on my homework now. Call me when dinner's ready."

Carter ran upstairs and went into his room.

"God Carter!" He shouted to his self, pacing back and forth. "Why didn't you just tell him it was Dyandra's earring?"

He sighed and sat on his bed. He looked up and saw a picture of him and Mary Jane taped onto the wall. They were both at the beach. He was lifting her while her arms were around his neck. He still remember that time. They were both laughing and having fun.

Tears fell down Carter's eyes.

"I miss you so much, Mary Jane.." He whispered.

Suddenly, he felt someone touch his shoulder. He looked around the room slowly. Nothing was there.

"Wait," he said wiping his eyes. "What if Dyandra actually killed Mary Jane..? What was I thinking!"

He quickly grabbed his cell phone and dialled Dyandra's number.

She picked up right away.

"Hey babe!" Dyandra exclaimed. "What's up!"

"Um Dyandra," he said. "Do you uh, know anything about the night Mary Jane died?"

There was an awkward silence.

"No..." Trailed Dyandra, her voice cracking.

"It's just that, my dad found this earring-"

"Don't tell me your accusing me of killing Mary Jane. Because I didn't."

"No, no it's just-"

"So you don't trust me?!"

"I-I do, but-"

"I can't believe you, Carter!"

"Can you just let me speak for one sec-"

"FINE. WE'RE OVER."

Dyandra hung up and Carter sighed.

"Not this again..."
