Ingrid and Sabrina had been together for five years now. Two inseparable counterparts making their way through life together.

Things had been going well for the two of them. They had a nice apartment together, good paying jobs, and they were even able to take that vacation to Hawaii that Ingrid had always wanted to go on.

But lately, Ingrid has been sensing something has been bothering her girlfriend.

"You know you can tell me anything," Ingrid pokes. "You've been staring at nothing for twenty minutes, I can tell something is bugging you."

Sabrina doesn't acknowledge her question with anything but a shrug.

The truth of the matter was that Sabrina had been staring at a woman and her child across the diner from where they were sat. The woman had been making such silly faces to get the baby in the stroller to laugh, and Sabrina doesn't know if it was working. The woman didn't give up though and eventually her face lit up with pure, unapologetic joy as her infant giggled at her.

That was when Sabrina turned back to Ingrid.

"Sabrina," Ingrid speaks quietly, wanting to help so dearly.

"You're going to think I'm insane," Sabrina says in a whisper. She hadn't ever felt this insecure about telling Ingrid anything.

"You know that's not true," Ingrid assures her, placing her hand on top of Sabrina's, squeezing it slightly.

"Fine," Sabrina snaps, squeezing her eyes shut so she won't have to see the look on Ingrid's face when she tells her.

"I want to have a baby."

Ingrid isn't shocked by what Sabrina said, just surprised at how she said it.

"You want to have a baby?" Ingrid asks for clarification.

"I knew you would think I'm crazy," Sabrina says, opening her eyes to see what her girlfriends face reads. Through Sabrina's eyes, Ingrid's facial expression read pure disgust. Throwing some money on the table for their bill, Sabrina stands and hastily moves for the door.

"Sabrina," Ingrid calls, hurrying to catch up with her.

Sabrina exits the diner before leaning up against the side of the red brick building to wait for Ingrid. She can feel her heart beating, the nerves that accumulated from what she just admitted rising higher and higher with every passing moment.

Ingrid takes long, slow strides as she approaches her girlfriend. She needs a minute to wrap her brain around the idea of having a child. Let alone Sabrina having a child.

Sabrina is always sick. She has a very sensitive immune system that makes her more vulnerable to different illnesses. It has been getting better thanks to a new medication she has been on but Ingrid wonders how a pregnancy would affect her condition.

"Before you say anything about my health," Sabrina states, "You know that my meds have been doing wonders. Compared to getting sick every other week now I haven't gotten a cold or a cough or anything in 2 months!"

"I know and that is absolutely fantastic babe," Ingrid says, giving Sabrina the most convincing smile she could.

"Where's the 'but'?" Sabrina sighs, rolling her eyes and turning her head to look at a mom walking her daughter into a toy store.
