"Are you sure?" asked Noah when I told him that we were going to Elle's big party.

"Yeah. If she invited us it is going to be big and awesome. Tomorrow you are going to come with me and I am going to have to buy a dress or a non-formal dress (as it says on the text). I did this with my friends, but since they abandoned me, you are going to take their place" I said trying to sound enthusiastic. I didn't want to go buy a non-fromal dress, but I was obligied. I knew this party wasn't going to be classy but it wasn't the shorts-and-T-Shirt style.

"I didn't know you were the type of girl that cared how she looked like. . . but ok."

"I'm not. But I don't want to embarrass myself in front of the whole school." I said

"Ok. We'll go tomorrow, after school I'll give you a ride."

"Ok"

Suddenly the door opened, and mom apperead in between the door frame

"Hi. Noah, your mom said it is getting late. You should go with her"

"Of course, Mrs. Johnson, thank you for having us. The food was very delicous." said Noah

"Of course thank you for coming. Cheryl, Why don't you walk Noah out the door?" Mom said.

"Ok. . .?" I gave Mom a strange look. And when I passed by her, she whispered in my ear

"He is handsome." And I immediatly knew what this was about.

"We are just friends" I told her and she didn't gave me a response. When we arrived downstairs, Vicky was nowhere to be found.

"Where is Vicky?" I asked Dad.

"She just left a couple of minutes ago."

"Seriously?" I said whispering just becuase that would seem mean if I said it loud.

"Ok, can you come a second outside, Cheryl?" said Noah.

"Ok. . .?"

When we arrived outside he broke our weird silence.

"I didn't want to say this inside because it would seem weird, but do you want to come with me to my house? Just walk with me."

"Ok. . . are you afraid someone is going to kill you or something?" I said laughing a little.

"No. I just don't like being alone. I have experienced that for some years now." He said and we started to walk. As always we talked about books and how much we hated that people preferred book based movies than the actual book. Noah was getting a soft spot on my heart. I felt like he was my best friend that I had always been looking for. When we finally arrived to his house, he said

"Well, I'll see you tomorrow. Remember, don't forget you are coming with me tomorrow!"

"I won't"

"Ok. See ya'. "

We waved goodbye and I went straight to my home. I started to realize that best friends weren't just because of how much time you've spent together, it is about how happy and safe they make you feel.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . . . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The school bell rang and I went to my locker. On the way someone took my arm and by just feeling it, I knew it was Noah.

"Hello, Noah."

"I thought I would scare you." he said getting closer to me.

"You know, I'm kind of used to it now. You have been scaring me all day long."
