Chapter1- Instantly Protected

I usually get up every day at 6:00 am. I do my same routine hair and make-up. Yeah like that will make a difference. As I walk into the living room, if you even called it that. And see both of my parents passed out on the couch. Probably hangover from all the whiskey and weed from the night before. Just like every night. It's those times that I'm happy most cause then my Dad isn't a wake to ... touch me.

I'm surprised they even have a bed let alone have money. To pay for bills. I asked to get a job but whenever I do my dad just says "No you good for nothing brat you should be grateful for what you have!" Then I would probably get beat for about 10 straight minutes. While my Mom just sits and drinks. Some mother, some parents. I mean what happened to the unconditional love of a parent. Yeah well such love doesn't exist well, at least not around here it doesn't.

I don't even want to eat here let alone live in this dump. So I'm just going to pick up something at school. The only good things about school is that my parents aren't there. For one. Two my two best friends and only family are there my friends Jackson and Lyla. Speaking of which as I check outside the window I see that they are already here to pick me up. Sense they don't like me walking in this neighborhood alone. Or at all with that fact.

As we pulled into the parking lot the first thing I see are the fakes. You know the ones with the fake implants. And hair so beach blond that you can put them on a box and label them Barbie. I mean these girls have been talking about being future gold diggers sense they were twelve years old. Talk about sad.

No one at school understands me. They all just think that I'm the weird shy girl. That I'm so uncool they wouldn't want to be caught dead even standing next to me for long . Of course their right but its not like they know it or know why. They think I'm weird because I like to wear metallic colors and black. That ,the fact that I don't like to socialize or go to parties full of drunks every other Friday. Makes me strange.

But of course that's not the real reason. The only people that know are my parents and that's why they treat me like the freak I am. I have I powers. I can do things, different thing. I can move stuff. Probably more but I was never allowed to use them. And as time passed I guess they just slowly died away.

While we were walking to our lockers Jackson asks me "so how was your family this morning in your wonderful house full of addicts and drunks? I mean seriously Devonna how long are you going to put up with them?" He just was looking at me. Oh yeah he is waiting on an answer. An answer I just couldn't give yes they have hurt me countless times but I couldn't but help to still have 5% love for them. So I just looked back at him.

"I mean you really shouldn't ever have to put up with that sweetie." Lyla spoke. I looked around those plastic fake rich girls all just spoke and smirked at me. The looked and laughed. Lyla looked at me with her light orange hair and sky blue eyes. She saw what I was looking at. "Those little-" "Calm down kitty watch the language ." Jackson said. He was the goodie, goodie in our group. With his dark brown hair and hunter green eyes. Don't forget his amazing 6 pack. And his so adorable freckles. If you look at him you think he is a complete bad-boy that always gets his girl. If you know him I say that he needs to get out of the library and into a club. Before he turns 60 and dies alone.

That's when I saw more like felt his presence. It was electrifying. And instantly I felt protected.
