Chapter 12- Cold and Alone 

Devonna’s P.O.V

 Scared, afraid, repulsed, angry. That is what a normal person in my situation would be feeling. But me? No. That whole thing made my heart flutter and my blood got warm. As soon as Carl left I looked at Tyler. I did  probably to boldest thing in my life. I ran up to him, threw my arms around his neck and kissed him.

 He reacted immediately putting his hands on my waist. Just when I needed air I said “thank-you.” “You can show your thanks bye kissing me again.” Then he gave me that signature smirk. What am I going to do with him. I kissed him. Our tongues danced in a fiery passion. Wait what was that smell? I pulled back. Tyler moved forward trying to kiss me. I stopped him. “Do you smell that?” I asked just to make sure I haven’t lost my mind. ‘Yes.” We looked around to see were it was coming from.

 Then we looked down. The grass was on fire.” Was that you?” I asked he shook his head “No I have never been able to do that before." It was not me because I didn’t have the tingling feeling through my pulse like I do when my powers are in use. Then a thought occurded. “Remember what you said about the five points thing?” ( refer to chapter 5) “Yes.” -“What were the other 3 things?” “It’s different for everyone.” Then realization settled in him. “OOOOO.” I swear guys are so clueless.

 All in all the date was great despite the sticky situation we were put in. As we were coming to the large house I asked the question that was burning in my throat. “ Where is every-one? I know that you don’t live here alone with just that nice doctor lady.” He looked a little taken back with my bluntness and choice of question. Then amusement clouded his features. “Well I sort of had everyone gone for a few weeks thinking  as all that you went through you wouldn’t want to be around people.” Aw that was so sweet but he was dead on I don’t think I can take people right now.

 “You must be pretty important for all of them to listen to you like that.”-“Well un-like all the other fairytales we don’t have a King or Queen or anybody. But we have a type of government. They started from one family. But everyone was pleased with the whole family’s ruling so no one demanded a change in 'presadency'.  But the whole family died 18 years ago. So my Dad ran for ‘president’ as you would put it. He won. But he still wasn’t satisfied with his life. After my youngest sister was born, he ran away with this 19 year old and never came back.”

 He said the last bit with a strained sarcasm. But he still continued “So because no-one knew where he was my mom got the title. It all worked out I guess my step-dad isn’t that bad. So yeah I’m kind of important.” I looked into his eyes, his actual eyes. Now that the contacts wore off. He looked so broken. I gave him the most comforting hug and he hugged back just as strong. We were at the door of the house now.

As we came in the kitchen there were 4 females in the kitchen that all had a resemblance to Tyler. He interlocked our hands and he relaxed I wasn’t even tense but I did to because I think I knew what was going on. Tyler mumbled something like “I’m going to kill Aron, maybe it is not too late to run.” His voice got hopeful at the end. I looked up to see the women that had the look in their eyes that said if you run we will kill you.
