Amber pov
I woke up to the bright sun in my eyes, the loud sound of my alarm, and a terrible feeling about today. I pulled myself out of bed, and tried to find something to wear for my last day of school.
I was a junior at the riverside high school in Arizona. The school is filled with cocky jocks and cheerleaders who think that they are better than everyone else. Finally I found a black t-shirt decent enough for school, ripped jeans, and my black converse. I pulled my long blond hair into a messy bun and walked into the kitchen to get something to eat.
I rummaged around for my favorite cereal, Cheerios. When I finally found it, I pulled out a bowl from the cabinet and poured the cereal into the bowl, the milk followed. As I was eating, I heard my mom come into the kitchen.
"Good morning mom" I said with a smile.
"Uh Good morning honey." She said in a tense tone.
"mom what's wrong?"
I was concerned about my mom, recently my parents had divorced. I live with my mom. My dad is an alcoholic, and he gets very angry when he has had too much to drink, that's pretty much the reason I live with my mom. As sad as it sounds, I'm scared of him, I'm scared of my dad. She has been pretty out of it. It's hard on me too, but I had to be strong for her. So any time she seems upset the answer is usually the same.
"Oh honey.. Uh it's the car" she was now walking to the couch.
I was very surprised at her answer. My mom hasn't had a job since they divorced, and I'm not sure when she will get another.
"And, What about the car?" I said, now very confused.
"it's broken, your going to have to take the bus."
See I knew I had a bad feeling about this day. I hate the bus, it always smells like sweat, and everyone is so annoying, throwing paper,
screaming at the top of their lungs, and laughing, way to loud, like an obnoxious goat kind of laugh."uh, ok mom." I said in a nice tone, but feeling furious on the inside
"well the bus is here honey, better get going."
I grabbed my back pack and as I was about to walk out I turned and said,
"love you mom."
"love you too honey."
Then I walked out and headed toward the bus. Right before I walked up those three steps to the door of the bus, I just stared at that door. I imagined what it was going to be like when I walked in there. Then the door swung open, and there was the school bus driver.
"are you getting on or not?" She said with a scary kind of tone in her voice.
I never rode the bus often, but I still knew that the bus driver was creepy, and not the greatest driver.
"Uh yes, yes I am." I was annoyed so my tone came out a little rude.
I hopped up the steps and into the door. Just as I thought, everyone was screaming, throwing paper airplanes, and that laugh, oh I can't stand those stupid high schoolers that seem like they might've spent a little too much time at the petting zoo. "Shut up!" I thought to myself, but I could never say something like that out loud. I have always been that person that wants to tell someone off or yell at them, but can never get the courage to say it in any other place but my mind. Then the bus stopped, I saw the sign Riverside High. This is going to be a terrible day, I though to myself, as I walked off the bus.
