"Y/n wait!" You heard the boy's melodic voice as you turned, your face streaked with tears.

"Stay away from me!" You shouted, as his golden eyes trembled st your tone. "You betrayed me!" You crouched to the ground, holding your hands over your face, your pudgy cheeks and small eyes wet with tesrs. Your eight-year-old voice trembling and cracking as you spoke.

Your seven-year-old best friend tried to reach out and comfort you, but when he came close enough to you, a spark of anger ignited in your heart, and you grabbed a fistfull of his teal hair, yanking it as he screamed in pain and reeled backwards, falling on his backside as you stood up, watching him as he began to cry. "I said stay away Aoba!" You said as he looked up and stopped crying suddenly and met your e/c eyes, yours still filling with and pouring tears. "How could you?" You said, softer as he hung his head.

"I'm sorry y/n," He said, hiccuping every few words. "I didn't know they'd turn on you."

"You shouldn't have told them!" You answered, your voice cracking as you struggled not to burst out into full on tears. "You know my mother died nobally!"

"She did," he murmured softly, hanging his head as your heart trembled. "And no one should tease you about it y/n." He looked up and met your gaze as you burst out into teara, collapsing on the pathway and curling into a ball. Aoba came up to you, and pulled you into his arms, hugging you close in a protective manner.

"I won't let then hurt you again y/n," he said as you fell into his embrace and poured your heart out to him. "I promise."

..........Ten Years Progression..........

"Back off!" You retored, whipping around and flipping the kid on his back as he grunted in pain. "Go pick on someone your own size." He stood back up, and growled st you, brandishing his fists for a fight as you did the same.

You were about to land the first punch, when suddenly, someone grabbed your wrist, wrapping their hand around yours in a warm, soft, protective way that seemed familiar to you. You plucked up the courage to look behind you, and met eyes with a certain blue haired, seventeen-year-old boy. Your eyes instantly widened, and you slowly relaxed your fists, bringing them back down to your sides as the boy stepped in front of you protectively.

"Leave her be, retard," said the boy as you stepped back a little bit. The other boy scoffed and grinned.

"Make me kid," he said, as the blue haired boy set his jaw. The other boy lunged for the blue haired boy, but the blue haired one easily dodged, then landed a swift kick to the back of his head, knocking him out cold in seconds.

You practically gaped at the boy now laying in the concrete alleyway, unconscious.

"You shouldn't hang around the alleys y/n," said the blue haired boy as you looked up at him.

"Aoba," you said softly. "Why did you knock him out? You could've killed him!" Aoba simply walked up to you, his faded orange jacket falling from his shoulders as he glared at you and held you in place by the collar of your shirt. You screeched, but it was muffled by his hand. He held you tight. He was always angry at someone, always annoyed or upset. And he was a said Rhyme player that went by Sly Blue within the game.

"I said you should stay away from these places," he said lowly as you went still and listened. "Because a pretty young girl like you is a target. And no one will have you. Only me. Got it?" Your gaze wavered for only a second, but you nodded, and he released your mouth. "Stay away from these places from now on, unless you're with me or Mizuki." You nodded, and he released the collar of your shirt, allowing you to straighten it back to its original place. "Go home to Tae, I'll be home in a few hours." You nodded, but before he could walk away, you grabbed him by the wrist, and pulled him to you so you could kiss his cheek.

He sputtered and yanked himself away, rubbing his skin roughly.

"What the hell y/n?!" He stuttered. "Gross!" You rolled your eyes, but inside you were hurt. You chose not to show it to him.

"No matter how much you think it is gross Aoba, you'll change someday," you began to walk away. "You will Aoba, someday."

..........Six Month Time Skip..........

You brushed the teal blue locks out of the boy' s face, watching him as he slept, hopefully not in any pain while he was sleeping. A stream of tears left your ryes as you brought your wrist to your face, trying to keep them from falling. Cries began to leave your mouth,  as you began to sob. You stretched yourself over the railing of the hospital bed, and rested your head on your arms, which lay on the boy's chest.

After several minutes of crying for the boy,  you went silent, listening to the sound of his stesdy, soft heartbeat, until the door to the hospital room opened, making you sit up and turn to see who had entered. You turned to meet Tae, the boy's grandmother.

"Oh," she said softly as she pulled up a chair to sit next to you. "I didn't think you'd be here so early my dear." You sniffed and wiped your nose and eyes with your sweater sleeve. Are wrapped an arm around your shoulders, as you leaned your head on her shoulder, keeping one of your hands wrapped around Aoba' s holding it tight as if you would never let it, or him, go.

You shot up from where you were sitting, to be awakened by a beeping noise. You sat up and looked right at Aoba, and to your happiness, his eyes fluttered open, and instantly met yours as you burst out into tears again. You kept forward and hugged him close. He hugged you back, busing his face in your hair and breathing in your scent as you did the same, careful not to hurt him, because of the nerves in his hair.

"Y/n..." He murmured.

"I thought you would never wake up..." You sobbed. "I missed you Aoba..."

..........Five Year Time Skip..........

"Do you even understand how ill-brained that idea even was Aoba?!" You yelled, throwing your marker at him, but he dodged. "You could've been killed!" He hung his head.

"I was doing it to save you," he murmured.

"Bullshit!" You yelled. "You never even protected me before the accident!" He shifted at your words, obviously uncomfortable at the topic of the accident. "These same issues are what got you *into* the accident in the first place!" You remarked, turning away from the boy as you heard him softly begin to cry. You turned away, and ignored him.

"I can't help you," you said, storming put. "Consider this Freindship. Over." And with that, you left. Never to speak to him again.

He crumpled to the floor and began to cry, pouring his heart out for you.

"I'm sorry y/n," he sobbed. "I'm sorry I was never enough..."
