"It hurts to love you. I can't empty my mind of you and it's so sad. Please don't forget. Don't stop this love" ~Davichi (Forgetting you)
My eyes instantly opened as my ears couldn't handle the ringing sound that came out of nowhere. I sat up as I found myself in a white room. "Taeyeon! You're awake!" Seohyun ran over to my side and gave me a glass of water. I took a sip of water as I winced from agonizing pain. "Oh gosh. I almost forgot to mention that you sprained your ankle and almost fractured your brain. Is any part of your body hurting? How are you feeling?" she made me lay back down, and I had no other choice but to listen to her. "I'm feeling dizzy. My head really hurts..."
It felt like my brain was about to explode. I did get a concussion after all. "How long have I stayed unconscious?" I tried reading the time, but my vision couldn't clear up. "For 10 minutes. Seriously, Taeyeon I thought you would never wake up! I was so worried, I almost had to send you to the hospital," I tried nodding my head, but it only caused my head to ache even more. I bit my lip from crying because I just felt like dying at that moment. "Taeyeon, please get some rest. We don't want you to have any brain problems."
Someone knocked on the door, and before Seohyun could ask who it was, the person entered the room. "Hi Taeyeon, I'm doctor Sehun. How are you feeling?" I opened my mouth to say something, but I forgot what I was just about to say. Dr. Sehun wrote something down on his clipboard of notes and nodded at Seohyun signifying to leave the room. After Seohyun left, the room grew awfully quiet besides the machine that keeps beeping and the annoying ringing sound that wouldn't go away. "Do you remember what happened that made you lose your conscious?" He spoke in a calm manner and I tried my best to remember everything that happened.
Bits of memories flashed before my eyes, but most of it was still a blur. It annoyed me that I couldn't remember what exactly happened. "I just remember crashing into a tree while I was sledding down a hill." Dr. Sehun nodded and asked me more questions. "Can you tell me anything about yourself. How old you are, where you live, etc." I began to think hard about myself, and I was quite positive that I could answer this question. "I'm Kim Taeyeon, and I'm 18 years old. I live with my parents and my sister, Irene in a small town near the city. Though I can't remember my house address..." I scratched my forehead and took a deep breath. I tried to remember, but it just wouldn't come back to me. Dr. Sehun had on a poker face and I felt intimidated for some reason. "We did a CT scan of your brain and it seems like you have amnesia, but it will only last for 24 hours. If it takes you longer than that for your memory to be fully regained then you need to call me or tell Seohyun so we can take you to the hospital as soon as possible." I listened to every word he said, yet it was pretty hard to concentrate for such a short amount of time. "For now it's best for you to get lots of sleep and prevent from doing any normal activities such as watching tv or playing sports. I will come back later in the day to discharge you," he let me lay back down and pressed some buttons on the beeping machine. Before he left he made sure to check my eyes, ears, and breathing. I was close to falling asleep until he finally said, "I will call your parents and tell them that you'll be ok, they were really worried to find out that you got hurt."
I noticed that I had tears in my eyes already. I missed them so much, and to think that I actually wanted to go back home. "Thank you." I wiped away the tears that fell and Sehun smiled warmly. "Taeyeon, you should know that people care for you. Especially Baekhyun for some reason he kept coming back here to check on you at every minute." I furrowed my eyebrows and blinked numerous times to understand what he just said. "Who's Baekhyun?"
Dr. Sehun seemed surprised. "Baekhyun. The camp counselor." That name sounds oddly familiar, but I can't picture his face. I just can't remember anything about him. "Baekhyun...."
I tried my hardest to remember what he looked like at least, but everything was just a blur. "I'll be back to check on your progress. For now you should get some rest." Dr. Sehun opened the door and was taken aback when someone was about to enter the room at the same time. "We were just talking about you!" He slightly chuckled before he left the room. "I think it's Baekhyun!" The angel voice shouted in my head.
He took off his black fur coat and moved the chair so he could sit right next to the patient bed. I watched his every move as I was still confused to who he was exactly and my relation to him. "Before you start yelling at me, I just needed to stop by and ask if you're ok." He lifted his hands up as if he surrendered. I gave him this confused look. "Um, look. I really need to rest right now so if you want to talk to me please do so after." I uttered with a tired tone. I turned my back against him and shut my eyes. At that exact moment I heard him chuckle.
"You know acting innocent doesn't suit you." Baekhyun articulated and I faced him again with so much disarray. He froze for a moment and I wondered why. I sat up as I groaned from the pain, and he helped me position myself by grabbing both of my arms gently. Our faces were too close and I felt his breath hitched. I just started to notice his facial features and I must say that he's pretty good looking. "Snap out of it! You don't even know who he is!" The devil voice inside my head told me and I immediately came back to reality.
I took his hands off of me and moved farther away from him. "Who are you exactly? Why are you here?" Baekhyun scoffed as if he thought that I was joking around. But I was actually serious and he seemed to caught on to the situation. "What do you mean? You don't remember me?" His worried tone made me even more confused. I shook my head and his eyes widened. "Are you like my cousin? My sister's boyfriend?"
Baekhyun stood up and left the room. I think I heard him talking to Dr. Sehun even though I knew that eavesdropping is not exactly a good thing. He came back in the room and shut the door with his hands on his hips. "Dr. Sehun said that you'll have amnesia for 24 hours, yet he's not entirely sure." He grabbed his hair in frustration and I just sat there with a major headache. "My brain is about to explode at this moment so I'm telling you right now to just leave and let me sleep!" I never felt this much frustration in my life. I just wanted to hit someone and let it all out.
"You're right. I just..hope that you'll feel better soon." Baekhyun-whoever this guy is, is not giving me the right first impression. I'm really starting to hate him for testing my patience. "Well I'm fine!" I laid back down as I pulled the blanket closer to my face. I forced myself to close my eyes and go to sleep.
"Is it bad that I actually want you to remember me?" I happened to hear his question before I ended up falling into a deep sleep.
