Laurel crossed the street to where Berry stood and stopped directly in front of her. "Hello there, I'm Laurel, What's your name?" She asked holding out her hand. Bethany stood there in stunned silence staring at the other girl before regaining her composure. "Bethany, Bethany Demers." Bethany replied in her thick old world French accent shaking Laurels hand. "Nice name Bethany, any chance you'd like to come get a hot chocolate with us?" Laurel asked smiling brightly. "I'm afraid I can't thank you for asking though," Bethany said turning away, "and Laurel? Thank you for talking to me." She hurried away down the sidewalk in the cool autumn breeze. Laurel walked back across the street to where Sebastian and James were still standing staring at her in shock. "What was that?" Sebastian exclaimed after a moment. "What do you mean? You said you didn't know her name, does she go to a different school or something?" Laurel asked flipping her hair over her shoulder. "No," replied James, "she doesn't go to school at all, she just walks and never says anything and nobody in town knows her name." "What do you mean? Someone must know her." Laurel said. "Yeah everyone knows her including my grandmother! She's been here exactly like that for our entire lives and nobody has ever spoken to her."
