Berry was a mystery all around Hudson, the wandering girl or as some speculated the image of one. She was seen everyday simply strolling around town in an outfit all the same colour and from what the townspeople could tell she never aged and never spoke. She seemed to update her outfits with every new century but always kept an umbrella, a pair of lace gloves, and a large sun hat. She had long red hair that when braided reached the small of her back and striking hazel eyes with silver framed glasses, her skin was so pale that on days she wore white she simply faded into the background. Every person in this town knew her or rather knew of her from the believed to be eldest resident Mrs. Edith Peters, a woman at the fair age of 87 and still counting and all the way down to the current youngest Leslie Banks, a temperamental child at 14 months of age. Berry walked the town everyday all day like a shadow of the past and as far as anyone new she always had, at the time she first appeared the people had given her the name Berry and contently watched and let her wander. If one were to ask Berry her name she would in fact have told them it was Bethany Demers and the year was in fact the very year everyone else believed it was 2017 and she was 152 years old having been born the year the town was founded. Bethany was not any sort of phantom, ghost, echo, poltergeist, or any other ghost related word you would prefer nor was she a vampire or anything of that sort, she was absolutely simply and completely not any kind of superhero for this is not that type of story. Bethany was a 17 year old girl from Hudson, Montréal and she continued being just that 152 years and still no one spoke to her because she was so very odd. Her friends and relatives died and she did not, she did not know why and neither did anyone else because Hudson was a town of art not science so she simply stayed, she stayed at home at night and walked during the day and did not speak to strangers and always carried an umbrella in case it rained and gloves for the cold and a hat for the sun and silver rimmed glasses because she didn't see well. Bethany was a wonder of time and yet nobody ever wondered about her and she never wondered about anyone else and for a very long time everything stayed exactly how it was but soon perhaps the silence that followed her would in fact be broken.
