Lil's POV
Love at first sight? Nah. More like "I hate you. I want to bury you alive. Go die in a hole somewhere" at first sight. Our relationship was like that. I repeat, 'was'. Remember when I said that when Ciara and I met, we instantly became best friends fo life, well that was actually because of Jer. I got to meet Ciara because of that stupid jerk who I love ever so dearly.
When I came to LA, I was 15 and stayed at Holiday Inn for about 3 weeks. James' parents payed for the suite, ticket to LA, and most of the expenses really, and I owed them a debt of gratitude for what they have done. I was glad that they were helping me out of their own kind hearts and not just because I was the girl who lost her parents at such a young age. It was my 2nd week in LA, and I went out to look for a job. The whole furcking week I searched, and I still could not find a decent job. Seriously, was I really this unlucky or was the universe telling me to go into prostitution, cause I could see flyers for those damn things everywhere.
"Ugh, sh*t. I need to take a break." I mutterd under my breath. As I was mindlessly walking, I stumbled upon a small café, named "Lily" ha! how ironic, and went inside. God, I loved the smell and taste of coffee and hot coco on a cold winters day. Oh, I nearly forgot to mention, my parents died 2 weeks before Christmas Day, so that sucked. I went up to the counter, and ordered hot coco and coffee cake. As I was paying, I saw a flyer that wrote "Wanted: barista" Ahhhh, my lucky day!
"Umm.. Excuse me?"
"Heath"
"Yeah, say Heath, can I apply for this?" I said, as I waved the flyer
"Seriously?" Heath said as his face lit up
"Uhhh yeah. I kind of need a job right now so...."
"Of Course, of course. You miss are hired!"
"Are you for real?"
"Yes, I am. But first, you'll have to fill-out this info sheet." He led me to a couch, served me my order and gave me the info sheet. After filling it up, I gave it to him and we discussed about the days and hours, and my salary. Best not to forget that.
"So, Lily, thank you so much for applying for this job."
"Yeah, I kind of needed one so..."
"I guessed that. It really is very hard to look for a job when you're a minor" he said, standing up
"You took the words right out of my mouth." I said a bit annoyed
"People are so judgmental these days." I just nodded and placed my cup back on the table.
"Well Heath, thanks again for giving me the job."
"No problem! and by the way, you were the only one who applied anyway."
"Huh? Why?" I said, suddenly curious. He just smiled at me and then headed back to the counter.
"Fine. Then don't tell me. Anyway, I better leave. Thanks again for like the millionth time!" I gave him a smile and waved goodbye, as I left the café, curiosity eating me alive. I hate the feeling of being curious. Do I not understand the phrase "Curiosity killed the cat"?
To distract myself, I decided to stop by a bookshop to see if there were any interesting books I could buy. I was the type of girl who would just scan the shelves of a bookshop and would buy a book or two that would pique my interest. I wasn't one of those who would buy books just because they were the best sellers. There are other books too you know. So, at the end, I bought a sci-fi genre book, and headed back to the hotel. Still thinking why no one, except me, applied for the job.
