Bellamy
He had a thousand and one things racing through his head as he walked beside Clarke.
Even after everything he had done, after everything he had said to her, she believed in him. Most people at the camp followed her over him, he knew that, but she was by his side, always. Even during these past few weeks. They were rough but she was there and he didn't know what he would do without her.
Bellamy glanced at her and realised how sickly she looked. The moonlight showed the beads of sweat on her forehead and the bags beneath her eyes.
He thought of her mum being on this ship. This was exactly what Clarke needed, she needed her family.
Bellamy wished he could do something but he was afraid to make it worse.
He was afraid of something else too. Jaha. He was afraid of what would happen to him when the chancellor came face to face with the boy who shot him.
He worried about it for some more of the journey when he felt something on his arm.
He slowed to a halt when he saw that Clarke had her hand on his arm.
"Bellamy I know you are worried about Jaha" she said, glancing at Jasper, Harper and Miller who had all carried on walking.
"If you think I'm gonna bolt, think again princess." Bellamy said weakly, trying to sound bigger than he felt looking into those eyes.
"I don't think that." She smiled softly, "I just wanted to let you know I spoke with him." She said, looking at her feet.
"You, spoke with him?" Bellamy frowned, not following.
"Yeah I spilled some crap about you 'being one of us' and told some shit about how we 'would not have survived without you'." Clarke said, smiling fully now and Bellamy's heart was speeding, as he waited for her to elaborate. "He pardoned you Bellamy." She said, her voice so quiet he thought he had imagined it, but when she looked up, meeting his gaze for the first time in weeks, he knew it was true.
He had been pardoned.
Because of her.
He could kiss her.
He wanted to kiss her.
He pulled her too him, burying his head in her shoulder and taking her by surprise, settling for a hug.
She laughed, her warm breath tickling the skin on his cold neck.
She wrapped her arms around his waist.
"Guys!" Miller called from the distance.
Bellamy let her go instantly, cleared his throat and, unable to speak, nodded his thanks before jogging in the direction of Miller's voice.
Clarke was right behind him and they joined the others at the edge of the clearing.
"Oh my god!" Clarke breathed from Bellamy's side.
He couldn't have said it better. The Ark was here. There were people everywhere. Part of it was on fire but it seemed most of them had escaped.
"Looks like we've got our work cut out for us." Bellamy exhaled and Miller nodded. "C'mon, lets get started"
Clarke
She had been wandering around through the mess, guiding people over to where Bellamy and Miller were gathering up a group of the healthy, and to where Harper and Jasper were watching over the injured, with Jackson who had survived the landing.
Clarke had seen Kane wandering around but hadn't spoken to him. He was also helping to sheppard people.
There were a lot of lost lives but there were a lot of people alive.
The Arkers were mostly sorted now and ready to go but Clarke still hadn't found her mother.
When someone approached her from behind she jumped. "Oh its just you." She said, looking up at Bellamy.
"Kane's accounting for everyone, checking who made it. We should be moving out soon." He said, looking more like a leader than she had ever seen him.
"I can't find my mother..." but just as Clarke said that, she heard someone coughing dryly.
Bellamy was there first, bending down by the piece of rubble.
"Mum?!" Clarke gasped, looking down at her. Her mum was fading from conciousness and her eyes soon fluttered closed.
"Help me get this off!" Clarke said, grabbing the slat on top of her mums body, but she needent have asked, for Bellamy was already pulling.
They had it off her in no time and Bellamy lifted her mums arm over his shoulder.
"You should get the other side." Bellamy grunted and Clarke did as told, looping her mums other arm over her shoulder.
They walked her back and Jackson met them with a stretcher. He and Kane helped her onto it.
"Everybody Move out, Clarke, Bellamy, lead the way." Kane said.
Clarke looked down at her mother before nodding and setting off.
Bellamy
They had been walking for some time now, the survivors from the Ark trailing behind, Miller and Jasper at the rear, Harper in the midst of it all.
Kane and Jackson were carrying Abby along side the other injured Arkers.
Clarke was walking beside him in silence.
"She'll be okay." Bellamy said quietly and she smiled, nodding.
"I know." She said quietly.
"Clarke..."
She looked at him, her face grubby and her eyes expectant.
"Im sorry." He said, "I'm sorry for everything, and for the things I said in the bunker. I know saying 'I was drunk' is no excuse but I don't think you lied about your past, and I know you weren't a privalleged. You have worked so hard to keep us all alive and well you've stuck by me. I think that says a lot." Bellamy chuckled, relieved to see she was smiling.
"Bellamy it's fine." She said and Bellamy actually exhaled, laughing with relief.
"You have an amazing capacity for forgiveness Clarke Griffin!" Bellamy exclaimed.
"I believe people deserve a second chance." She said quietly.
"How many second chances have you given me now?" He asked teasingly and she shook her head.
"Too many to count..."
Her voice trailed off and Bellamy turned to see that her eyelids were drooping.
"Clarke?" He said, just as her eyes closed, her knees gave way and she began to fall.
