Just a short story. Enjoy.

"I knew you." Bucky was facing the same blonde man he had met back on the bridge. Both super soldiers were having a brief staring contest. Then, Bucky lunged at him.

He slammed his metal arm into the Vibranium shield, the force pinning Steve to the ground. "Tell me. What was I like? Before this?" It sounded more of a demand than a request. Steve knew how dangerous the Winter Soldier was and could be. So he took precautions. But James Buchanan Barnes or Bucky was his best friend and Steve couldn't leave him.

"Your name is James Buchanan Barnes. You were a commander of the 107th, called the Howling Commandos back in the 1940s. You fell off a train while fending off Hydra." You were my friend. He wanted to say but the words froze at the back of his throat. Bucky was silent as he processed this new piece information that he was just given.

He didn't remember anything before this. Before becoming the Winter Soldier. He just remembered waking up to Hydra, following their orders. Being put in cryo freeze many times to get his memory wiped clean after accomplishing each mission they assigned him to. He was like a blank slave. Following orders whenever he was told to.

His memory was just static, nothing. Then, a shock hit his brain. Like a small surge of electricity. He reeled back, stumbling a little as he stared at the blank white snow at his feet. He had released his hold on Steve as several images flashed behind his eyes.

"S-Steve?" He stuttered as he looked up at the blonde, eyes wide and very confused. Steve grabs hold of Bucky's metal arm to steady him before the Winter Soldier could fall. Bucky's own breathing was erratic as he exhaled small puffs of cold air. "Yeah Buck. It's me. You're safe now. You're home. I'm with you till the end of the line, pal."
