The male couple that had been making out on the sofa broke apart. Jay's eyes widened. "Oh, my God! It's you!" She pointed at the one wearing the leather jacket. Office boy.

"Oh my God, it's you!" He said back, imitating her a little bit.

Jay lowered herself onto his lap, straddling him, and pushed him back onto the couch a little. "I didn't know you were gay." She looked directly into his eyes. Hers were wide.

"Bi, thanks."

"Was it something I said?" Jay started kissing his neck. He actually laughed out loud.

"Bi, as in - you know what, never mind. Oh yeah, keep doing that." He pulled her closer. "It's cool, Amari. She's drunk." He told the other boy, who'd been white-knuckled.

"This hoe gay. You saw her make out with that white chick," Amari snapped, incredulous.

"Eh," he replied. "Alcohol's a magical thing. Do you take responsibility for anything you did the first time you got drunk?"

That shut Amari up, at least temporarily. Finally, he said: "When I first got drunk, I acted hella gay. Turns out, I'm hella gay. In my experience, alcohol reveals you."

"Doesn't change the fact that she's a great kisser."

"Mick - "

"So that's your name," Jay pulled off of him. "I'd been wondering." And she pressed her lips against Mick's fully, rocking back and forth a little.

This was where Mick drew the line. "Alright, babe, I think it's time someone drove you home before you get yourself in some real trouble."

"Trouble finds me," Jay breathed.

A wicked grin spread across Mick's face. "I was really, really hoping you'd say that."

"Let's have some fun," Jay whispered in Mick's hear. Amari pulled his signature I-can't-believe-this-shit face.

Mick pulled Jay out back, where the swimming pool was. It was nine o'clock, and darkness had fallen. "Have you ever pulled a pool prank?" He asked her.

"What, like..." She trailed off.

"This would be better if you were sober, but it's more fun now that you're drunk. You know how to shut off a power grid?" Mick pressed. Amari pushed his way through a gaggle of blonde junior girls and shook his head despondently.

"Mick, I have spent the past eight years of my life pulling blackout pranks, and let me tell you, it never gets old." Jay gave him a sultry look and slunk away towards the back of the yard.

A moment after Jay was out of sight, Amari confronted Mick. "What the hell is wrong with you?" He challenged.

"Dude, relax. She'll never find the circuit box. Easy way to get rid of her, right?" Mick shrugged.

"You seemed to be taking your own sweet time getting rid of her while she was this close to fucking you," Amari complained.

"Aww, are you jealous? That's cute." Mick smiled.

"You smell like cigarettes," Amari grumbled. "Let's get out of here."

For some reason, Mick didn't feel like ditching. "Nah, I wanna see how this goes."

A moment later, every light in the entire place switched off. The pool, house, and people were plunged into darkness, ensuring immediate screams. "AX MURDERER!" "POWER OUTAGE!" "PARTY IN THE USA!" and "AHHHHH!" were among them.

Mick's expression changed from humored to ' not bad ' in a split-second. "You know, I think that this Jay character is a force to be reckoned with."
