Squirrelflight stared at the two of you for a moment, before turning and leaving. You smile to yourself as you snuggle closer to Brambleclaw and doze off to sleep. You wake up the next morning to find Brambleclaw was already out. You get up and stretch, before leaving the den. Most of the clan was up already; apprentices training in the clearing or heading out with their mentors, kits tussling outside the nursery, queens looking on. You sit outside the warriors den and begin to groom yourself, when Brambleclaw walks up to you, a plump vole in his jaws.
"Want to share?" He asks. You nod your head and he settles next to you as you eat. Across the clearing you see two familiar orange pelts. Firestar and Squirrelflight. You flicked your ears towards them, but you couldn't make out their conversation. You turn back to Brambleclaw.
"Did you do it?" You asked him.
"Yeah. He wasn't happy, and he attacked me, but he's gone for now." That's when you noticed the new scars on Brambleclaw; claw marks on his flank, teeth marks on his front paw.
"Are you alright?" You ask urgently. "Did you see Cinderpelt?"
"Huh? Oh, these? Ya i went to her den soon as dawn broke. I'm fine." He said, nuzzling you. "Don't worry." You finish eating and Brambleclaw walked off to go hunting. You start to follow, but see Squirrelflight watching the two of you.
"You go on and hunt. There's something i have to do." He nods and looks for someone else to join him. You walk up to Squirrelflight and sit next to her.
"Hello Squirrelflight. Where's Ashfur?" Squirrelflight snarled.
"So you really want to be with a cat who betrayed Starclan and follows Tigerstar?!"
"Im not. Im with a loyal Thunderclan warrior. I don't know a cat like the one you have described. What's their name?" Squirrelflight rolled her eyes with a hiss.
"Brambleclaw! He's been talking with Tigerstar in his dreams! My sister Leafpool told me so."
"He may have done that in the past, but he was doing so to learn. So he could protect the clan. But, he has spoken, or rather, fought with Tigerstar, and now, Brambleclaw only follows the stars. So now that that's settled I'll ask again. Where's Ashfur?" Squirrelflight was silent for a moment before answering.
"We're not together anymore. I left him, as an apology to Brambleclaw, but you two all already together and, i doubt Ashfur will take me back." She sighed and laid down, head on her paws. "I-i was just so angry with him, I never thought about wether he wanted it to happen." Your eyes widened at her words. Perhaps, Squirrelflight was okay after all.
"I get it." You said, placing your tail on her shoulder. "You just wanted what was best for the clan. I-" You broke off suddenly, seeing Ashfur staring at Squirrelflight with such hate, you were surprised she couldn't feel it. "In the meantime, you should probably go apologize to Ashfur before he does something he'll regret." She looked up at Ashfur, who quickly turned his gaze away. Squirrelflight nodded and stood up, then walked over to him. They talked for a while, like, a long while, then they nuzzled and walked off.
"Boo!" A voice cried behind you. You jump, fur fluffing up until you see it was Brambleclaw, who was now laughing, a squirrel on the grond next to him. You roll your eyes as he calms down and looks in the direction of Squirrelflight and Ashfur. He growled then turned back to you.
"So what did you have to do while i was gone?" He asked picking up the squirrel and going to the fresh-kill pile, with you following.
"I talked to Squirrelflight. We're cool now, and she's back with Ashfur." Brambleclaw's eyes widened.
"Back with Ashfur?!" You chuckle.
"Yeah, I'll tell you later, but i think you two should apologize face to face. I think we're cool now, but you two seriously need to talk." He sighed.
"I guess you're right. I'll go talk to her." He started to leave when you called after him.
"And Ashfur!" He flicked his tail in response as he walked towards them, hesitation in his walk. You smile and grab yourself something to eat, before lying out in the dying rays of the day.
