when i laid my eyes on him, i couldn't believe them. how someone managed to be so perfect, i have no idea. of course, this is judging purely off of looks, which is something i really need to work on not doing.
for all i know, this guy could be some crazy axe murderer who kidnaps young teenage girls and hides them in his basement until he uses said axes to murder them.
i mean yeah, that idea is a stretch but it could happen. there are some crazies out there.
as i was walking with my friends around the open mall, one of them turned to me.
"audra, i dare you to talk to that guy," maia said to me as she pointed to potential-axe-murderer.
here's the thing about me: i'm not one to turn down a dare. ever. in doing so, i've earned a reputation, if you will.
to date, i have never said no or chickened out on any dare; i've completed the unthinkable.
if you're curious, i'll let you in on a few. they range from casual to "that takes a bit of dedication."
- at a birthday party/sleepover, i was dared to kiss my best friend, alex. he was a good sport about it, so everything was fine. not too frisky.
- stepping up a bit on the scale, at a friendsgiving (basic, i know), i was dared to walk to my neighbor's house in the skankiest clothes i owned and ask for a box of condoms. (fyi: haven't spoken to that neighbor since. only sad, judgemental eye contact.)
- at a party (just because), i was dared to sign up for a sugar daddy/sugar baby website. obviously, i was the sugar baby. the only catch is that i had to follow through with it. this was last year, and i was only 16. i'm pretty sure you had to be 18, but since the website didn't thoroughly check and i can easily pass as 20, i got message after message, each one wanting to give me something. if you're wondering what i got, look no further. i received an iphone 6s, $500 cash, was taken out to dinner four times a week, and a very nice, beautiful ring.
so yeah, moral of the story: mama ain't scared.
so, because i'm the dare goddess, i said yes to maia's simple dare. i calmly approached the (extremely attractive) boy.
"hello," i said simply.
"uh, hi?" poor boy looked confused, and truthfully, a bit scared.
"you're probably wondering why i'm here. well, you see, my friends dared me to talk to you, and you're clearly undeniably attractive. so i figured, why not?"
he stared at me for a second, before furrowing his eyebrows in what appeared to be disgust. "why the fu-"
"woah, cam, what are you saying?" another boy interrupted.
"this girl thinks it's okay to invade my privacy!" cam, which i'm assuming is short for cameron, said.
"no she didn't. she was trying to talk to you! take it as a compliment, gosh," the other boy said.
i took a moment to observe the other boy. he was cute, there's no question about that. he seemed kind enough, considering what events just unfolded.
"whatever, man. i'm outta here," cameron scoffed.
i looked up, locking eyes with the latter.
"my names ryan," he said quietly.
"i'm, uh, audra. nice to meet you," i smiled.
"i'm sorry about cameron. he sucks."
i furrowed my brows in confusion. "then why are you friends?"
ryan smiled softly. "it's a long story. and before you say that you have time, i don't. but i will next saturday, if you'd like to arrange something?"
smooth. very smooth.
"i just might. text me," i said as i put my number in his phone.
he smiled and waved goodbye. i returned the favor, and walked back over to my friends.
"so?" maia asked.
"so, hottie over there is a royal ass, but his friend ryan isn't. so guess who has a date with ryan next saturday?" i smirked.
maia rolled her eyes and grinned, saying, "the goddess of dares never ceases to amaze me."
