The next few days at school were torturous. Everybody was talking about it, from the juniors to the seniors and it seemed that everyone had a different story to tell. Some were sympathetic while others were rude about the whole ordeal, overall they sniggered and laughed behind my back. Most seniors who didn’t know me thought it was funny to call me yogurt girl or Creamy, the jocks and popular kids thought it was hilarious and tried to get under my skin all the time with it but luckily my friends were around to back me up all through it. Most of the guys got into fights trying to defend me but it was no use. By Thursday I was still being teased about it but couldn’t be bothered to deal with them. I was just happy I could start my weekend tomorrow since Friday was a holiday.

As usual I met my friends by the door. I was greeted by the twins in sync followed Salome, Livvie then Trey. We talked and goofed around while waiting for Emma who came just as the bell rang. While walking to my first class, Salome caught up with me, “how are you coping with the stunt Rodney pulled” she asked me cautiously. I shrugged and replied “It’s nothing I can’t handle. I got other things I’ve got to focus on like my grades, my dad isn’t too happy about them.” she nodded thoughtfully, understanding how I was feeling, “I know what you mean. You’re smart so don’t stress yourself too much” with that, she made her way to drama class while I went to art class then math and hour later.

The rest of the day passed by with taunts from other people. Livvie and Salome almost got into a fight with a classmate because she called me trash during science class while the teacher was out. Either way I didn’t let it affect me but it seemed by lunch time everyone in the crew almost beat someone up during the morning. Everyone had someone they were keeping an eye on but the tense moment evaporated once the twins started impersonating each other, we all laughed at relaxed back to the way we usually are. Everyone started talking about anything and everything care free and comfortable with everyone.

Eventually everyone started talking about the 3 day weekend and what each one was going to do. Emma spoke up first saying “I think I’ll be lazy and stay home, didn’t know there was going to be a holiday so didn’t plan anything.” Salome looked at her in surprise and said “Always got to have a plan, girl. My parents told me about the holiday last week so we’re going to visit their friends who leave 3 hours away. They have a cute son around my age so not going to complain at all.” Everyone cheered and teased her before the twins said “We’re going camping with our parents and little sister Emily” they had fake enthusiasm but everyone knew they were going to have fun either way. “I’ve got relatives coming to stay with us for the weekend, they have the cutest little girl I’ve ever seen” I say with a big smile on my face thinking of my little cousin Amie. I sense someone watching me and turn only to find Rodney watching my intently which immediately made me start frowning. Luckily Livvie distracted me when she told us about her date with Trey on Saturday night. ”It’s our 2 year anniversary so got to celebrate it” Trey said while holding Livvie next to him. The girls were happy for them while Chris joked with Trey about them being a married couple.

The bell rang and we all went to our last class for the day. Mine was nutrition and the 4 people in my class were told to bake whatever we wanted as long as the ingredients were in the pantry. I decided to make cinnamon buns and before I knew it, it was time to leave school. The teacher gave each of us plastic containers to carry our food home. I made 20 cinnamon buns so I could give some to the crew as well before the rest went home. Once I finished giving my friends their sticky buns, I saw my brother Mike pull into the school parking lot. I said goodbye to everyone and got into Mike’s car. “Hey Mike, what are you doing here?” I said even though I was happy to see him. “Her Di, well mom sent me grocery shopping and figured I should come get you before I go. How was school?” he said distractedly since he was paying attention to the road as he drove us to the nearest market. “It was alright, can’t complain” I replied, not bothering to talk about the taunt and teasing I’ve been getting at school, “I made cinnamon buns during my nutrition class. How was class today? Still not giving up?” I said teasingly, Mike wants to be a surgeon and had been through 3 years of university so far. “It’s going great. You’ll be calling me Dr Mike in no time.”

We got to the market and bought everything on the list. Luckily we had enough to buy ourselves each a treat. I got a packet of marshmallows while Mike bought himself a big bottle of ginger ale. We talked and had a goodtime before packing up everything in the back of the car. We got back home in record time and helped mom put the things away before going to do my homework. Mom made an amazing chicken lasagne and lettuce salad. Dad wasn’t home so we all ate at our own time. Before I knew it, midnight struck and I felt too sleepy too stay awake any longer so decided to go to bed.
