The queen of Azgeda

Chapter 8

Clarke's Pov

We've been marching for two days now. I sent a rider to Lexa as soon as Echo told me what had happen.

One of the village's on the outskirts of Azgada's border was attacked. The report said they were attacked by men in suits. The mountain men.
The rider was ordered to tell lexa that we needed to meet at the border.

Of course she sent a message back telling me no one orders her around.

She thinks because she's the commander that she's all high and mighty but she's not even close.

To my left rides my beloved Echo and to my right rides Raven.

Tom and Lilly ride behide us and Mike rides behinds them.

"We should be there tomorrow." Echo says.

I let out a sigh. "I wish we didn't have to go to war." I say.

"Well I'm just excited to blow some shit up." Raven says. I let out a short chuckle.

"Oh I'm sure you are."

"So I haven't really had the chance to ask you but...what do you think about the commander?" Echo asks me.

I let out a sigh. "I really don't care for her at the moment...she has a stick shoved so far up her ass that no one can talk her down from it." I say  shaking my head.

I cast my gaze down towards the ground trying to clear my head of the commander. Who does she think she is?

"I feel like we're not gonna get anywhere with her. I mean how can she think she can just boss us around like she's my commander?" I ask her.

"We were apart of her coalition once." she tells me.

I turn my head to stare at her in surprise. "What do you mean we Were part of her coalition once?"

She chuckles. "Well before queen Nia became our queen, her father bent the knee to the commander....he thought that us working together would mean a great thing....thought that we could live and fight together.....but Nia thought differently....she thought the ice nation should be free...so when her father died she did just that....she separated from the coalition and freed us from being slaves." She says with a smile.

"Now why would you say that she freed you from being a slave?" I ask with a light chuckle.

She turns her head to look at me in the eyes.

"Because...we were fighting for someone else. We were dying for someone else. We were bending the knee to someone else. Someone who wasn't our ruler."

I let out a sigh as I look on forwards.

"Azgada's people....they're a loyal bunch...a proud people." I say with a smirk.

She chuckles

"You have no idea."

That's when my smile falls.

"Yeah....I think I do."

Flashback

"Do you have to go yourself?" I ask Nia

She let's out a sigh as she grabs her sword and straps it to her back.

"Yes I have to go....this attack was in our own territory. Our own territory....I have to do this."

Raven shakes her head trying to keep herself calm. "Why...why can't you send Tom or Lilly? Anyone but yourself." she says.

Nia shakes her head.

"I can't. They've come to far into our land. For to long I've been sitting here with my hands tied behind my back."
