The car we were in went through the large mysterious looking front gate of the F.M.A. Facility right outside Ojunar. A long stretch of pavement was still to go in front of us. The car weaved through the tight passage leading up to the large building towering in front of us. After at least 5 minutes of driving we arrived at the long passage way directly in front of the building.
The day before my brother had somehow managed to scape up enough money to get us a ticket to take a car to the facility, rather than walking. Although, im not sure where he accumulated enough money for it by himself as he claimed. My suspicions point towards a bit of help from Serge. Serge had been a great choice to add to our group. I had "recruited" him last year to come with us to our house. I had met him at the orphanage and every time I went I would see him there, so we became friends. Although he was quiet I managed to get his life story out of him. His parents had died in the war like mine, and since he was under the age of 18 he was forced by law to live in an orphanage. He still had 6 months left at the orphanage when I decided that I would welcome him to come join me and the rest at the house. Ms. Sedner had agreed to this, and he had come to live with us. During this time, he got a reasonable job as a butcher near where we lived. He brought in a decent amount of money. I believed that Serge had pitched in his fair share of money to help rent the car and driver.
Once we excited the car and claimed our bags, which contained very little, from the back, the car driver sped away quickly as if he trying to escape our presence. We all stared at it in awe for some unknown reason before we heard a man clear his throat loudly. We turned to the source to find a large burly man standing directly behind us. He had his black hair slicked back and was wearing an army sergeant outfit which matched his name tag reading "Sergeant Maditz". He said nothing for a least minute before saying, "Follow me closely, its easy to get lost." His tone was rather harsh for the words that he had just said. He lead us through a spinning door that moved in a circle when you pushed it. It was unlike anything I had ever seen before.
The minute I stepped in the building the first thing i noticed was the amount of people there. All of them looked to be about the same age as me or a bit older. All of them were following a man who looked overly similar to the man we were following. The uniforms and hair were all matching. It was very hard to think that all these men looked so similar in that way. They were like clones of each other. I followed Dane who was right in front of me so I would not get confused as to whom i was following.
Suddenly Dane stopped in front of me, and i realized we were in open space. In front of us was a set of men and a small conveyer belt. Serge was talking to the first man in the line. I was curious about what they were talking about. "All you gotta do is tellum your name, age and state where your from and stuff. Don't say anything you don't want them to know. Got it?" Dane whispered to me forcefully. I nodded putting on a sour face. What did he mean by not telling them stuff you did not want them to know? I quickly pushed away my thoughts when I found myself next up in line. Dane was being questioned in front of me. I looked past him to see that Azar, Serge, and Rudy were sitting on a bench not far from where the men were. In their hand they each held a small bag. I was in the process of trying to figure out what it contained when I saw that the man that Dane had been talking to was looking at me with hateful eyes. I quickly approached him.
"Sorry, I was day dreaming." I laughed a bit. The man just frowned at me. "Sorry!" I said again. After another moment of staring the man began his questioning.
"State your full name. Do not leave anything out." The man looked at me waiting for my answer.
"Risk Landrel Tilar." I stated proudly. The man quickly typed that into his computer and began his second question.
The man said firmly, "State the first names of your parents."
"Majesta and Fedrar."
"What city were you born in?"
"Ojunar."
"Please move on to the next person in line."
I did as the man asked out of pure fright. As I was met with the next man, I found that he was slightly less harsh looking which helped calm my nerves.
"Hello young lady. This that i have here is you ID card for the F.M.A." The man handed me a card. It had my full name printed in bold at the top, and a code at the bottom. To the left was and open spot for a picture and the rest of the space was taken by the academy's stamp. It was a picture of the leader of the academy. The man in front of me continued. " you must have this card with you everywhere you go. If you lose this card you will be promptly removed from this base and returned to your home that you had inhabited before. Besides that, this card will allow you to receive food and get into any of the training facilities not opened by your group trainer. Here are your number patches as well. These will go on all our uniforms so that we know you are from this camp and so if any punishments need to be issued for inappropriate behavior we can report it using a number instead of a name, and you may move on." I simply had no idea why they thought that it was a great idea to label by numbers, but it was not really my decision.
Finally I moved on to the last man.
He did not say anything at all which was strange, but he simply took a weird looking marker and wrote my number across my forearm. Then he motioned me to sit. I took a seat on the bench located by a large pillar reaching up to a level far above. I sat beside Rudy followed by the others.
Once all eight of us had gone through the line, the man leading us, Sir. Maditz, as we would later call him, led us away from the wide open area of the building and through a wide hallway. The floor was a plain gray polished cement, suitable for the name, and the walls were a pristine white. I had never seen a building quite as clean as this. Down the hallway was equally spread doors marked with a number. Each door looked exactly the same, a silver colored door knob and dark oak. All of it was too... Identical. I did not enjoy walking through a place where it lacks individuality.
Finally we arrived at a room marked 1209 after a long walk. Sir Maditz opened the door and allowed us all to enter before he shut the door behind us. When i first looked around the room i saw a table of blue clothing and a few blue bags, but then i realized there was a small kitchen in the corner as well. It was far better than our kitchen any day. I cautiously glanced at Sir Maditz. He suddenly began to speak.
"Hello. My name is Draskul Maditz but you will all refer to me as Sir Maditz or Sir. If you don't, I will personally escort you out of this facility. Is that clear?"
We all nodded staring at him wide eyed. He continued.
"Here at the F.M.A facility I will serve as your trainer and group leader. You will follow all of my instructions with no complaining, starting now. Now, this is your main base where you will sleep, bathe, change clothing, and eat breakfast. There will not be any other time that you would need to be in here."
Suddenly Dane interrupted his speech asking, "umm, where exactly are we sleeping...sir?"
Sir gave him a harsh look and replied, "Boy, what makes you think that you can interrupt me. When I am speaking you will keep your mouth shut. By the way, i was going to show you that. Follow me."
He lead us to a set of doors on the opposite side of the room. He opened the doors by walking up to them. They simply opened at his presence. He adressed us before stepping inside the small capsule that was behind the doors. "This is your elevator leading to your room. It will go to your sleeping room, and only there. Depending on where your room is located it may take up to 10 minutes to arrive, it could take 10 seconds. We stepped inside along with him. No one spoke as the circular capsule began to move. We each took a seat on the stools that were fused into the floor. They were black much like the rest of the room and were highly uncomfortable. Luckily our ride only lasted about a minute. The large doors opened to a room set up with extremely big beds lining the walls and a door next to each of them. I wandered into the room, dropping my small bag on the floor. Sir began to speak," This is your basic living quarters. I will see you tomorrow morning at 6:00 A.M." He said returning to the capsule, the doors shut quietly in front of him.
I had never imagined such a place like this. My mind could barely handle everything I had seen. Lets just say, that as I lay in bed that night, I was surprisingly content, a feeling I had grown far from.
