15 - Denial

"What!? I can't be in love!" Matt protested, standing up and backing away from his friends. "Why not?" Edd questions, raising an eyebrow. "Because, I'm the most beautiful man on earth! It's completely idiotic for me to like someone romantically besides myself!" He gave out, placing his hands on his hips. Edd snuck up behind him with a picture of (Y/N). "Hey Matt!" He said, catching his attention. Seeing the picture of you startled him, making him jump at least 3 feet into the air. "Matt, why are you so against it? It's natural to like someone." Tom chuckled, reasoning with him. "B-But...I've never liked someone like this before...how could it be natural?" Matt responds. "What do I do?" Placing his head in his hands, Matt sat back down between Tom and Edd. "The only thing you can do, confess." Edd replied. "Why? I-I don't want to, WHAT IF SHE DOESN'T LIKE ME BACK!?" Matt fretted. "Matt, it's ok. I know she does." Edd giggled. "Sh-She does?" Matt sniffled. "Yeah, it's sorta obvious, no matter how many times you two deny it." Tom shrugged.

"How can you be so sure!?" Matt spat (hehe), demanding for an answer. Edd cheekily smiled "Well, the other day I-" The three were cut off by the front door flying open. "(Y/n)!? " The three of them cried in unison, rushing over to you. "What happened!?" Edd asked. "I applied for a cooking job but I didn't realise how hard it was until now..." You choke, collapsing on the floor due to exhaustion. Matt helped you up and brought you to the attic while Tom and Edd stayed in the kitchen, most likely making you a cup of warm milk or tea.

"S-So, did you get the job!?" Matt sat next to you on his bed, perking up in his usual, positive and quirky way. "No Matt, I didn't get the job." You groaned, seeing the poor ginger's smile turn into a frown. You were immediately filled with regret. "B-But I'm sure I can find another right? I mean, there are plenty of jobs around the area, I'd be happy with anything, even if it means working at a Starbucks or something." You shrug, happy to see Matt's smile again, even though it seemed quite forced this time. "Well, I guess the only thing that matters is that you're happy!" Matt smiled, wrapping a soft and cosy blanket around you and pulling you into a warm and friendly hug.

"I like you..." Matt mumbled.

"Huh!?" You pulled away from the hug and glared at him with surprise. Matt saw your shocked actions, assuming you didn't like him the way he liked you. "A-AS A FRIEND!" He answered, his face burning like mad.

Your surprised expression went deadpanned as you felt a slight bit of sorrow in you as you slightly frowned. You secretly hoped it could be more than friends. You imagined what it'd be like being his partner though. Having kids, going places, eventually growing old together. But this just seemed to be a fantasy because you obviously knew he didn't feel the same way.

"Hey guys I was thinking-" Edd strolled in with a mug in his hand, only to see you and Matt, curled up on the bed, silently crying. "H-hey what's going on?" Edd questions, walking closer to you two. "N-Nothing." You both reply in unison, struggling to wipe away the tears. "W-Whatever it is, I'm sure everything's going to be fine. Now, I've been thinking, maybe we could all do something together? I mean, we've all been busy doing out own things and the only time we are all together is either when we watch TV or have dinner, so whatcha say about doing something fun together tomorrow?" Edd shrugs, smiling as he waited patiently for your responses.

"That actually sounds like a great idea!" You reply as Matt nods in agreement. "Great!" Edd says, handing you your mug of (f/h/d) and walking out.

"Tom!" Edd mumble-whispers. "Yeah?" Tom replies. "They're up for coming." Edd grins. "Great, now all that's left to do is to put our plan in action!" He chuckled, smiling evilly.
