Getting Ready with Chance

~Octavia's POV~ 

  Well my first day was pretty exciting. I met a new friend and can't wait to see an old one. I hope she still lives in the same house as when we were kinds or else I'm screwed. I say that because I'm sitting in her driveway getting ready to go see if she's home. 

   I get out of the car and rub my hands together. I'm actually really nervous to see her. We haven't talked to each other since we were 13. That was almost five years ago. Arriving at the front steps my hands started shaking while I reached to knock on the door. Within a few seconds it was opened by an elderly woman with a confused look on her face. "I'm sorry. Do I know you honey?" She asked. "My name is Octavia James. I'm looking for Mika Miles." I tell her with hope in my voice. "Oh sweetie, please come in. I'll go get her for you. By the way I'm her grandmother Sandy Miles." "It's nice to meet you Mrs. Miles." I greeted. "Please darling, call me Sandy." She stated with amusement lining her words. I just nodded.

    Stepping through the door, all of my childhood memories come flooding back into my mind. 

"Octavia, slow down before you get hurt!" yelled Mia, Mika's mom. "It's okay ma, I won't fall! Where is Mickey? We are playing hide and seek." I answered back. "I have a sneaking suspicion she is in the attic, but don't tell her I helped you." She winked at me and I rounded the corner to go up the stairs and ran smack dab into my fellow hider. "Found you!!" I said playfully.

   I was snapped out of my flashback when I heard my name being called by a sweet, innocent voice, my best friend. "Tavi is that you?" Mika squealed. I remember my old nickname. It's kind of cute. "Hey Mickey! I missed you!' I replied with just as much excitement. 'Well what are you waiting for?  Come here and give me a hug." I am extremely glad that she's not mad at me for leaving.

   ...I spoke too soon. She punched my arm and scolded me, "Why did you leave without saying goodbye Tavi?!?" "I'm sorry Mickey. My dad didn't let me come and say goodbye. He literally had me on lockdown. He locked my widows and door not allowing me to get out to see you. I tried everything. I even broke the window, but it was too loud and he got to me before I could leave." I answered honestly. She nodded and hugged me again, forgetting about the anger that she had towards me earlier. We talked for a while, then I decided to ask her to the party.

   "Hey I'm going to a back to school party with Ethan Reynolds. Do you want to come with us?" I questioned. "Um, Ethan Reynolds asked you? Tavi do you know who he is?" I shook my head feeling slightly confused. "He's the new alpha's cousin." 

"Alpha? Alpha of what?" 

"What do you mean 'Alpha of what' ? He's the pack's alpha." She responded making me feel stupid. I have no clue what she talking about. Alpha? Pack? What's going on? 

  "Tavi, did you know that you're a wolf? Did your parents ever tell you stories?" I shook my head. "No, they didn't tell me anything. By wolf do you mean Werewolf?" I said. "Yes." She stated.

   Wow! That is something I definitely didn't expect to happen  today. "To get back to your question my answer is no. I'm sorry but I have to stay here and watch over my cousins that are visiting." She noted sadly. "Its okay. No need to worry about. Rain check?" I asked hopefully. "You bet Tavi!"
