Tydore came to be shortly after Robert's rebellion when the last of the Targaryens that had survived pleaded with Tywin Lannister for their protection. And though Tywin owed the youngest Targaryen nothing, he spared him for later use.
Tydore again called upon Tywin Lannister's assistance when his youngest daughter experienced a near death experience at the hands of his eldest. Reluctant at first, Tywin only agreed when he realized the girl would come to be much use to him later.
The Tydore name began and ended with Lord Tydore since he had no sons to carry the name. Four of his claimed children married. His eldest, Sofera, his third eldest and second youngest(these two were his wife's offspring from another) married into the Frey family while his youngest married into her mother's family acquiring her mother's maiden name unbeknownst to her.
