After school, Nicky picked me up after another bad break up. She was moody like always, and tense. I sat in the front seat, all my muscles alert. We didn't say anything for a while, and I was greatful. She was driving me down to the beach where I would meet up with my band friends, and the concert would begin in two hours top. My belly felt like a bucket of worry was poured into my stomach. I kept breathing and thinking of the people out there, waiting and jumping to are music. The waves crashing at the perfect moment... the sand hot on my feet, but the late cold evening air brushing through my hair like a soft comb. Music played in the car and Nicky was texting like crazy, we swerved a couple times.

We pulled up and I saw the dark waves calmly sitting, like they where waiting for something. When Nicky parked, it felt like a couldn't speak. What if I mess up? Will people be video taping this?

"I'm proud of you." A soft voice said on the side of me. I slowly turned my head and looked at Nicky. She turned and looked back at me. She wasn't smiling, but she did look calm. "Hu?" I whispered staring at her. "I love you, Lyric. I'm sorry whats been going on. High school was crap for me to. I heard you sing beofre and uh... yeah. I know your gonna rock it." I smiled, showing my teeth and staring at her. She smiled to."Stop staring at my retard and get out there and have fun." She laughed and unlocked the car doors. I punched her shoulder lightly and shot out the door.

I ran like a bullet down to the bridge where I started feeling sand mix with the wooden floor. I saw the stage being set up, and Jade building a sand kitty off to the side. I raced down there, feeling the sand in my toes. Cold sand was always the best to feel on my feet. People where starting to gather. I thought I saw two people from my school, a girl with messy brown hair and a bright smile. Lisa was it? And her friend Derrik. They where holding tickets and where close. Where they a couple? Hm. It reminded of me and Hex. Or... what can be. I came down and saw Max holding his head. "Whats up?" Graze sat on stage testing on the microphone. "Hex is nervous is hell. He's not coming to the stage." Max said with a growl. He seemed annoyed and worried. I nodded and spotted him by the shore, he was a sitting black shadow against the dusk brown sky. I walked slowly towards him.

The waves crashed quietly, and a few seagulls passed overhead. He looked down, and then turned his head towards me. I sat down next to him, my feet being washed by the salty water.

"Whats wrong. Max said your," I began.

"Lyric I think I like you." He said firmly. He twisted around and stared at me. I paused and gapped my mouth to speak but didn't know what to say. "More then like, like... like like. Like... love." He stuttered the last word. Love. I stared at him shocked. He seemed like he thought about this, and needed the time and guts to tell me. "I think... I like you more then a crush to." I said, my voice really quiet. He smiled and stared at me. He grabbed my face lightly and stared into my eyes. "I'm so f***ing scared." He admitting laughing. I let my arms rest on his shoulders and hung my head laughing. "Me to."

"Hey, guys!! We need ya kinda to sing the song onstage!!" Max called from up near the wooden walkway. I glanced away and stared at Hex again. "You ready?" I asked. He sighed and smiled. "Lets do this."

We raced up the shore and jumped on stage some people started clapping as the band started gathering. Hex and me grabbed a microphone and waited for the lights. As they went on, the music started. Max rocked the drums with Graze, and the girls played gutair and backup auto.

"I'm at war with the world as they try to pull in the dark..." Hex's deep perfect singing voice surprised me.

"I struggle to find my faith as I'm slipping from your arms..." Hex lowered his voice.

My turn. Fear swelled like a bomb. One... Two... Three.

"Its getting harder to stay awake! And my strength is fading fast...!" I felt alive, like the lyrics explained. People in the crowd started cheering already and pulled out there phones. I shuttered softly knowing a little bit someone might post this. I ignored it, feeling inlighted.

"You breath into me... at last!" I turned to Hex while singing, and we both smiled.

"I'm awake, I'm alive!" Are voices mixed like black and white, like a beatiful ying yang. People cheered louder and pumped there fists for us. Amy and Jade looked at eachother and laughed out of pure happiness. This is what we been waiting for... this is really happening.

We sung our hearts out, and the solos for Max's drums made the crowd jump. Jade and Amy rocked the gutair and practically filled the beach air with the songs of successful determination. The stars glittered overhead. When we where done singing, Max keep drumming and the music kept going. Max stared at me and we garbbed eachothers arms and jumped screaming. "Yes! Oh my god!" He said loudly, his smile ear to ear. I squealed like a mouse and hugged him. We stared at each other for a second and then... Hex leaned in quickly and kissed me. His soft lips pressed against mine. It felt like my body turned into a cloud. All my black nervousness turned into butterflies. I closed my eyes and listened as the crowd broke out into loud screaming cheers. Graze watched, smiling and drummning.

I stared at Hex and he stared back. "Lyric, will you be my girlfriend?" He asked.

"Um, did that kiss not answer your question?" I laughed and leaned in to hug him.

Maybe there is happy endings.
