The Auction Night

Chapter Twelve

One by one, everyone started to enter the dinning and they all took their places on the dinning. It was at the time when I wanted to sit down that I realized what had happened. They had taken all the seats and left the one close to Aiden for  me. Marvelous! I thought as I mentally shook my head. I was still somehow scared of Aiden because of his threat of yesterday. Does that mean that he likes me? Before I could dwell on that thought,  I shook my head and focused on what was going on  with the family. 

"So... Dad and Mom, what time are you leaving? I want to take you somewhere before you leave." Aidan asked and I smiled inwardly. Freedom at last! 

"I'm so sorry Aiden, we wont be staying for long. In fact our flight is in the morning." Steve said. 

"well then my private jet will take you back. You really need to see this as it concerns our discussion of last week." Aiden said as he took his last bite and his dad nodded his head.

"very well then. We'll leave after that but that means I'll have to go straight to my office and sort out the things I wanted to do before your mom and I traveled again."

"travel again? Where are you going and aren't the twins following you?" I asked and Eden looked at me with a smile. 

"No they aren't. They're staying here with you. The only reason we are leaving is because of our anniversary that's coming soon so we decided to spend a month in Paris, if not, we would have also stayed here with you. We’ve missed you so much and are hoping for a grandchild. In fact, that reminds me; why didn’t you tell us of your break up with Regina? We initially came to make you children see that we are not growing any younger and therefore need a new addition into the family only to find out that you married someone else last year and didn’t even invite us.’’

“It was a quiet wedding mom.” Aiden said exasperated and even I could sympathize with him. His family was staying longer than thought but that doesn’t have anything to do with me right? I am still supposed to divorce him today, no! I’m going to divorce him today no matter what!

“Quiet or not, I’m sure her family still appeared isn’t it darling? I can’t believe we didn’t ask you to introduce us to them neither did we ask for your wedding albums.” She said with a guilty expression and my alarmed face turned to Aiden. Shit! We are so dead if I couldn’t think of something to get us out of this hole.

“Eden, actually my parents didn’t attend our wedding and we didn’t take any pictures as well.” I said with a sigh and everyone’s eyes snapped to me. Aiden gave me a look that sounded the bells of warning but I didn’t care.

“What is this you’re saying Amelie?” Steve asked and I looked at them.

“You must all be aware of Aiden’s self-opinionated stubborn self. I tried to convince him time without number but he wouldn’t listen! He said a church wedding would be too noisy so he practically told a lawyer to draw out a wedding license and we signed it. He didn’t even allow the presence of friends; just the both of us.” I said and Aiden glared at me while everyone else was telling me how they were sorry such a thing happened. As they were doing that, Hazel suddenly narrowed her eyes at me in accusation.

“Does that mean your parents and friends do not know you are married?” As that question fell out of her lips everyone awaited my answer. I already anticipated such a question but I haven’t been able to foresee their reaction to my answer and my answer, which of course will shock Aiden, will be saying the truth.

“As a matter of fact, they do not know, except from my best friend of course. Aiden and I met at the charity auction my cousin and best friend organized. Since one of her volunteers had opted out at the last minute, she convinced me to take her place and Aiden here, found me so beautiful that he dropped 5 million dollars for me.” I said and Sean whistled. “It was supposed to be for a weekend but after that, he continued to visit me and we got closer to each other. I didn’t tell my mom anything because she would have been planning my wedding from the start and would take things out of proportion and if I told dad then he’d tell mom, the same with my aunt so only Amy knew of our relationship but even she has never seen Aiden because my lovely husband always says time is precious and has refused to meet with her.”

“Oh Aiden what shall we do with you?” Eden said as she hit her face with her palm and I smiled inwardly. Yup! Revenge for yesterday complete.

“But you should have still told her about the wedding even if it was after it Amelie darling.” Eden said with a disapproving tone and I hung my head. If I mentioned more excuses then our cover could be blown.

“Mom, I think this worked for the best! Now we will just have to plan another wedding and do everything conventionally. You guys can’t travel now; you know that if you disappear, Aiden will take Amelie somewhere else, get her best friend and have a church wedding. Then, he’ll apologize to her parents and we’ll miss out! Please mom, dad, your anniversary isn’t until the next two weeks even if it takes a month before their new wedding, you can always go for another honeymoon after their wedding, not like you need any.” Hazel said and I gulped. They can’t really be planning this could they? I can’t afford to marry Aiden again and this time, have my dream wedding, I wouldn’t survive the trauma!

“Although I hate to agree with you, I have to admit what you are saying is true. Hazel you still have the contact of that company that was in charge of Rachel’s wedding right? Call them; we have a wedding to plan.” Eden said with the widest grin.
