Story 1: Gold Girl

For those humans out there that like brain teasers, heres one for you:

"Imagine your in a dark room, how do you get out?"

(answer is on the next page!)

One thing that Asuka struggled with after being banished to the human realm was figuring out how to fit in with two wings on her back. She tried to hide them under a cloak which didn't work since said cloak only reached down to her waist and her wings may be shorter than average but the tips of the white feathers still showed. She also tried to to hide them under an illusion but that didn't work out either because she could never get it big enough to cover her wings or looked as if she had a gaping big hole in her chest! It was, to say the least, a problem.

For the most part of her banishment she spent it in the forest and somehow during the endless weeks gained the skill of hiding in plain sight which was handy when she had to hide from hunters, travelers and other types of humans that passed through. True, she did have to perch up in trees like a bird or perhaps tuck herself inside a bush which sometimes ended up being poison ivy for some obscure reason, but she soon learnt how to be stealthy enough to get close to animals and stuff.

Eventually, Asuka decided that she should risk the cloak disguise and head into a nearby settlers camp since she was getting hungry and no traders pushing along a carriage full of vegetables or fruit had come by recently and it was only so long until she was killed by starvation.

Wraping up in her grubby white cloak and tucking her wings in as close as she possibly could to her back which, yes, did cause discomfort but it was something that she could endure...for a while at least.

The settlement she was heading to was small and had no name but was overcrowded in the late hours of the day with humans from what she had observed. Walking inside she pushed down her fears of being caugh and tugged the hood of her cloak down slightly befoe continuing on her journey at a brisk walk since the quicker she got food the quicker she could get out of this place.

Asuka guessed this was her first taste of what being in a human settlement, in fact, it defiantly was.

The smells varied from dung to glorious food, the sounds of children laughing as they chased each other all over the place and occasionally bumping into people. Asuka stepped aside as a trio of children were about to collide with her shoulder as they ran by with large smiles, a small smile of her own formed as she glanced around for a not too crowded foot stand.

Finding one at the very end of the humans camp of sorts, Asuka jogged over and took a gander at what they were selling. Ruby red and grass green apples sat before her and she felt a little bit of drool escape from her lips as her blue eyes shone in amazement "would you like to by some kid?" the merchant asked politely. Nodding eagerly, Asuka put her hands in the small pouch containing gold coins which she had gotten from (y/n) a while back before she was banished from Atlantis. Apparently, Gold was worth alot down here.

Taking a dozen and putting them in her pouch (it was enchanted, of course, seeing as it was easier to take around to diffrent locations without lots of gear dragging you down) Asuka offered five gold coins to the old lady. She gasped and stared transfixed at the glittering metal circles in Asuka's palm "oh my heavens..." she whispered as Asuka frowned and glanced from the gold to the lady "umm...okay..." she muttered to herself, placing them down on the edge of the wooden crates before leaving.

Unfortunately, most of the other vendors and travelers saw the transaction of food for gold and stared hungrily at Asuka who was trying her best not to freak out from all the pairs of eyes watching her as she passed. It was all going good for now but unfortunately a vendor called out loudly "hey kid, wanna  by a deer pelt with that gold of yours?" which soon caused an uproar and people rushing over to her!

Her claims of running out of gold went unheard as she ran down the main street of the settlement camp with a horde of humans chasing after her holding a variety of items including a sheeps skull? Finally bursting through the break in the wooden fence which served as the entrance and exit, Asuka sprinted with her remaining energy towards the woods...still with a group of humans on her tail and shouting like harpies.

After that experience, Asuka learnt NOT to use angels gold currency unless she needed to and instead trade items like flowers, rope and wooden carvings which is what humans did when they needed stuff for survival. Though, the old women whom she gave gold to was more than willing to give her an apple a day from the back of her stall so that people didn't see Asuka and charge at her basically demanding gold.
