Rowan was about to step in, wanting to finish Luke off herself, when Greyson pulled her back. She pushed away from him, determination in her eyes. Ryder had pinned Luke and was about to plunge his knife in his heart when Rowan moved up and pushed his arm down to Luke's thighs, giving him a hint. Disabling his ability to walk will help them not get sliced to death, but it will help them get answers. A corpse can't talk, obviously. Ryder stabbed Luke's thighs until the knife came out the other way. Luke dropped down on the floor with an anguished cry.
Ryder dropped down, eye-level to Luke. "Alright, where are we going and who are you taking us too?"
Luke looked up, his blonde hair hitting his eyes. "You think I'm going to tell you? You wouldn't even understand!"
"Then tell us what we wouldn't understand." Greyson said standing up.
Luke looked frightened but his eyes had a desperate look in them. "They are a mix of werewolves and fey, hybrids even. They want to capture you, because you three might be the only ones capable of stopping them."
Greyson looked suspicious. "Why would they think we are the only ones?"
Luke smirked again, his fear clearly disappearing. "Cause you are. They can fly. They are half fairy, it makes sense."
Rowan leaned down near him. "But you haven't answered my brothers other question; where are we going?"
"If you give me a kiss, I'll let you know."
Rowan jerked back in surprise while Luke chuckled under his breath.
"Haha, so funny. A lady's man, aren't you?" Ryder retorted. "Well, don't be thinking you have a chance with my sister. She has more bad ass than you ever wished you had."
Rowan felt proud. She had never gotten a better compliment.
"Can you answer the question, or are you too dumb to know it?" Greyson asked abruptly.
"We are going to Exilirea." Luke said, sounding defeated.
Ryder pushed Luke down on the ground and started pacing the room. "Do you mean to tell me that you are taking us on a 5 hour journey???!!"
Ryder sounded like a lion that has been caged for 5 years, never let out. Rowan saw sputters of smoke on his fingers and tapped her fingers for Ryder to see. The fire on his hands let out, but not the one in his eyes.
Rowan glared at Luke. "So, you're saying that we are going for 5 hours just to get killed by some creatures?" She yelled, waving her knife in Luke's face.
The knife in her hand seemed to wake Luke up. He stood up holding onto the knives blade, easily disarming her and threw the knife on the other side of the room.
"Yeah, well 5 hours are mostly likely done by now, since light seems to be coming." He said raising his hand toward the rip in the metal.
A suspicion rose in Rowan. "Why are you in here Luke, if you work for the hybrids?"
Luke's face turned crimson. "Um, it's a...test."
Greyson wrinkled his forehead. "A test?"
"Yeah, to make sure ya'll stay in line."
Ryder crossed his arms. "I don't believe it."
Luke was about to answer when the truck lurched quickly and the four of them hit the rip in the metal, seemingly making it wider. Luke hit his head hard and crumpled on the wall. The triplets 3 knives came crashing near them and they simultaneously thrust the knives in the wall, making the rip wider until they could crawl through it. The truck had started again, but slow enough for someone to jump out discreetly. Ryder jumped out first and nodded to Rowan to grab Luke.
"Why should we bring him?" Rowan asked. "All he's ever done is make our lives worse."
"Ryder's right, Luke might have extra experience outside of the village than we do." Greyson said, ready to help Rowan out.
She muttered excuses but did as she was told and threw his body out before Ryder went out of view. She then jumped out and Greyson quickly followed.
"Our knives! We have to..." Rowan cried as the truck drove away.
Greyson dug out the three gold tipped knives. "I grabbed them on the way out."
The knives were a gift from a kind widow who had no need for them anymore, and she had told the quiet 12 year olds the origin story.
"Once, when the earth had perspired and creatures and human had shared their wealth with each other, a sinner was roaming the city, wanting to be freed from his sins. A fairy took pity on him and gave him three knives. The ones in your hands."
The triplets had looked in awe of the knives that they had held in their unexperienced fingers.
"The fairy told him that each had a different engraving for different reasons. The one in your hands Greyson, the one with the torch, means strength and leadership. When you unsheathe this knife, it will give you better strength and leadership then you already possess. Use it wisely. And you, my brave Ryder, the one in your hands, the one with a lion silhouette, means that you will be fierce, but also merciful. When the time comes, that knife will serve you well. It also can turn into a sword for a better advantage."
The widow than turned to a wide-eyed Rowan. "And yours, my little flower, has the feather engraving, which means gracefulness and warrior strength. This was the one that gave every warrior their name. You will still be a flower, but grow thorns as well."
She than had sent them back home, all three of them telling the story to each other once again.
Rowan now chose the feather knife again, for that was the one she used often. She slid the knife into her boot and they started dragging Luke towards where Ryder was waiting for them.
