Request: "But I thought we were meant to be together?" "Shouldn't we be with people who not only tolerates the little stuff but actually loves us for them? I don't think you ever loved me, just the idea of me."
You and Isabelle hadn't been in the best of places since she returned with Sebastian after her disappearance.
With a possible war against the downworlders on the horizon thanks to Valentine, tensions were high right now at the institute.
Every shadowhunter was working overtime trying to keep the peace which lead to you and Isabelle not seeing much of each other.
It also didn't help that she wouldn't tell you exactly what it was that Sebastian did to rid her of her yin fen withdrawals, even Raphael had no idea what he could have possibly given her.
You had your suspicions about him, you didn't trust him and Isabelle knew this.
The two of you were arguing once again, this time in the privacy of her bedroom, she sat on the edge of her bed as you paced the room.
"When are you going to see that there's something off about this guy?" you questioned her.
"Y/N, Sebastian is not a threat, he's an experienced shadowhunter and he helped me when I needed it, we can trust him," she retorted.
"How am I supposed to trust him when you won't even tell me what it was he did to 'help' you," you practically yelled.
"Please don't start this again," she groaned.
"I wouldn't have to start anything if you would just tell me the truth, I talked to Raphael, he doesn't know of any remedies that can just cure yin fen withdrawals that quickly, so whatever Sebastian gave you might not be so methodical as he wants you to believe."
"Are you really upset at Sebastian or are you upset that you couldn't be the one who helped me," she said standing up.
"Alright fine, maybe I'm still upset that you didn't feel like you could tell me when you got addicted to yin fen but I love you Isabelle and I just want what's best for you."
"Well maybe we shouldn't see each other anymore," she muttered.
"But I thought we were meant to be together?" you said softly.
"I know I messed up Y/N, but shouldn't we be with people who not only tolerates the little stuff but actually loves us for them? I don't think you ever loved me, just the idea of me."
"That's not true Isabelle, I do love you, I've always loved you."
"You loved that perfect person I used to make myself out to be, this is the real me, the one who makes mistakes sometimes, the one who might be a little in over my head right now but if you can't see that... this just isn't going to work," she sighed.
You were struggling to find the words you wanted to say.
There was a buzzing coming from your pocket, Isabelle's phone buzzed soon after, you both looked at your phones to see a message from Alec that he needed everyone in the conference room asap.
"I'm not giving up on us Izzy, when all of this is over I'm going to prove to you that I love you. All of you. I promise you that."
She bit her lip but didn't say anything in return.
She just walked to her door and opened it looking back at you, "We have work to do."
